New Orleans is Toast....

It really pains me to say this, since I had planned (at one point anyway) t0 get married in this wonderful city, but despite Angel Readings and Numerology readings to me and my former fiancee(sp?), there isn't much left to save this city...

I think its great that a buncha white folk wanna take over the city with cheap condos and all, but they'll drown just as quickly as the rats and funny smelling shit that seem to line the streets these days, so what does that prove?

Its just sad to see the crescent city be so close to destruction every year like this....

I would encourage all to go see New Orleans before it is finally destroyed... Mostly Frenchman ST, as thats where the Marsalis family still plays....

Truly, God's country....

Charles Krauthammer, having the Last Word on Washington Week in Review on Saturday:

"When you look at recovery efforts in Louisiana, compared to recovery efforts in Mississippi, you see clearly the value in having competent local government."

Krauthammer was referring to the fact that Mississippi has largely recovered from Katrina, while New Orleans continues to suffer. Here's what he left out:

1. Mississippi's damage didn't even approach Louisiana's.

2. Mississippi's governor is not only a Republican, but a Republican who was a former Reagan aide, former Republican National Committee Chair, and a two-decade Friend of Bush (Haley Barbour.) Louisiana has a "Democrat" Governor.

3. Most of the aid that went to Mississippi benefited Middle-Class and Upper-Class Whites. Most of the aid that has NOT YET REACHED NEW ORLEANS is supposed to help Lower-Class Blacks. Guess which group makes up a GOP voting bloc?

Bottom line- Mississippi's recovery was a priority for Bush, Louisiana could go to hell for all he cared. And it's all about politics and race.
