It's the first Monday of October, and that is akin to pitchers and catchers reporting for us law nerds. The Supreme Court opened its 2007-2008 term today, and there are plenty of interesting cases on the docket. Cases this term include what may be a Second Amendment case, which is rare, along with a range of interesting law and order cases. With this 4-1-4 Court, it's likely we'll continue to see Justice Kennedy casting the deciding vote in contentious cases. We'll try to keep you updated as the decisions start rolling out.
In the mean time, here are some resources so you can keep on top of all things SCOTUS-related: SCOTUS website (with links to decisions), merits briefs, SCOTUS Blog, and the ever-entertaining Above the Law, a legal tabloid.
