Here you have the cast that is confirmed for the movie more or less. I've added Nurse Christine Chapel as I think she should be included in this as well, especially since Majel Barrett became Gene Roddenberry's wife cause of Star Trek. So you have the Captain Christopher Pike, Sulu, Kirk, Chekhov, Scotty, Chapel, Uhura, Bones and Spock. You original cast, the original ship, how we all remember it before the movies and aging.
Now then news has come out today that John Cho (Harold) and Simon Pegg (Shaun) have been cast as Sulu and Scotty. It's ok, I guess, but I didn't think this was going to be a comedy. John Cho is way too tall for Sulu and Simon Pegg is a bloody red head for crying out loud. Now then, I had no problem with Chekhov and Uhura, they look enough like the characters and don't bring any known baggage along with them. I Like Zachary Quinto and all, but as SayHey said, there is someone much more suited for the role of Spock. So now I bring to you my cast of the Star Trek prequel.

First up to bat is my Christopher Pike would be none other then Joaquin Phoenix as he can bring legit acting to the role and I think he looks a little bit like Christopher Pike. He would be your big name star in a sense, though a few of the others are known, they aren't Oscar nominated.
For Sulu I opted to go with Masi Oka, Hiro from Heroes. He's already played Sulu's son, so there is a resemblance there. It may be jumping the shark a bit, but we're making a fucking prequel for Star Trek we can get over ourselves for a lil bit. He knows his shit, and could easily pull off Sulu since it is very close to Future Hiro anyways.
As for Scotty I agree with SayHey with Paul McGillion from Stargate Atlantis. He's Scottish, so he has the accent already. Though we don't even need to go that for a reason, just look at this guy, he looks like fuckin Scotty already. Plus he was pimping himself for the role, the guy is dying to be Scotty and you gave it to an actor I adore, but is red headed and skinny, just doesn't work for me.
Nurse Chapel was with the show constantly until Star Trek III The Search For Spock, which I found interesting since she was always in love with Spock. Well, I went with Miss Veronica Mars to play the part. I think she has the same look, and could probably pull off the seriousness of Chapel fairly well. If she wouldn't take the role, Allison Mack (Chloe from Smallville) could easily fill her shoes as well.
Dr. McCoy, Bones, one of the reasons this show worked is because he was REAL. He hated transporters, at times could be xenophobic, and his interactions with a logical creature when he was such emotion made the character believable. I think Shane West has the voice and the look to play a Bones. He may be a bit too pretty, but he is slightly older then the rest of the cast and can get down and dirty when need. If he didn't work out you could always get Ben Foster who is quickly becoming one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood today.
Finally, for Kirk, there is no way you can pick a replacement. It's William Fuckin Shatner, the man is an icon, a living legend, you can't just randomly pick someone for that role. So I have decided to go with Chris Lowell. You're probably asking yourself, who? Chris Lowell is currently playing William, the surfing midwife on Private Practice, the Grey's Anatomy spin off show. I believe he has the look, the charisma, and the delivery to be James T. Kirk, future Captain of the Enterprise.
There you have it, my idea for the cast of the Star Trek film. We should also cast Number One from the Original Star Trek pilot where Pike was the Captain, Spock the Science Officer and a woman was known as Number One (who also happened to be Majel Barrett). In case that is need look no further then Famke Janssen or Rose Byrne who looks a like like Majel did in that role.
JJ Abrams, call me, we'll talk this out and come up with a way not to make this movie completely suck. We must make it feel like an Original Series episode so I hope in some way Nero is some wacky "god" on a planet that has the crew held captive, that's a definite original series type. Perhaps he's an enhanced super human from the past, a rival of Khan's, that would be interesting as well.

William Shatner as Captain Kirk!! Bloody brilliant. If CG can make Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan look like 20 something year olds, then think of what it can do for Shat.
I do agree that adding simeon pegg and john cho is a stretch, seeing how they are comedic actors. Could work though
