America's favorite college basketball team has reason to be excited!
‘‘I think [Vermont’s] getting a tremendous player,” said Georgetown Prep basketball coach Dwayne Bryant of Young. ‘‘They’re getting a major D-I-caliber player, I think he’s seriously big-time. I think Mike Lonergan knows he stole one. I think he knows he got a great kid with a great family who’s a great player.”Click here for the rest of the article about Young's commitment.
The best news? Their other commitment is considered by many to be even better!
6'8" small forward Jordan Clarke had 52 scholarship offers to play division 1 college basketball...52! This includes an offer to play in the ACC for Vanderbilt. Clarke just recently verballed to the Cats a few days ago and here's what he had to say about his decision in the Washington Post:
"If I wasn't going to go to Vermont, I was going to a high-major," Clarke said. "Vermont was the mid-major I felt comfortable with."
Take that Bucknell, Holy Cross, Air Force and Binghamton!

Gotta give the coaching staff at Vermont a ton of credit for landing this kid over roughly a sixth of all of the division 1 college basketball programs in the country.
“I just woke up this morning and knew it was the place for me” said Clarke, a 6’7”, 235 pound player capable of playing multiple front and backcourt positions, of the moment he knew Vermont would be his future home.
Adding to a sense of destiny was the manner in which the program found out about his decision. “I was going to tell them sometime next week” recalled Clarke of his plans, but “We had workouts today, and the whole coaching staff just showed up”.

It's this kind of determination that's going to keep the Cats ascending to top of the mid-major programs in America.
