World Series Recap

Yeh, I dont really care about the end result either. But hey, the Redsox outplayed everyone, especially the Rockies. It would have been nice if 7 other hitters showed up to the ball park to help Matt Holliday at least try to compete for the Rockies, but nahhhhh whats the use. But man, the Redsox manhandled Colorado to sweep yet another Fall Classic. Congrats goes out to Mike Lowell for winning and deserving World Series MVP honors. He shined and I loved what Redsox nation had to say when comparing Arod to Lowell. Something along the lines of, "why do we need Arod, we have Lowell". Which is true. Mikey has 2 WS rings, one with Florida and one with Boston. Arod has, uhm uhm NONE!

But back to the recap. There is really nothing much to say. Redsox pitching was near flawless, hell, cancer survivor John Lester pitched like a Cy Young candidate last night. I was hoping the Rockies would have squeezed one win out, and hell almost did game 3, but Rockies bats couldnt compliment that Matt Holiday 3 run jack, hence, a game lost in which they should have won. But as a baseball fan and purist, I congratulate Redsox nation. I may hate hate HATE their fans, but they won and my Giants didnt.

I think its probably time to just admit that the American League just has a distinct advantage having to compete with that extra batter all year...

NL has turned into more a AAAA league...

Yeh, that and they spend their money wisely. The Mets and Cubs are laughable with their 150 million dollar payrolls.

Redsox simply bought the best team!

I dunno if I'd go that far though man... If it were the Yankees, absolutely, but you look at the sox and their best performers of the playoffs where Pedroia, Ellsbury, Lowell, Beckett, and Papelbon.

All of them are either home-grown talent, or were acquired via trade for home-grown talent (Hanley Ramirez to Florida for Beckett, Lowell, etc).

Great combo of young talent and proven Vets. Not that I have anything but hate for Red Sox nation mind you :)

Very true, but Lowell and Beckett have inflated salaries (deserved of course), but look at Manny and his millions, Ortiz and his, Schilling, Drew, Lugo, etc.....Its the second highest payroll in the majors.

BUT- they did win, so obviously there is some chemistry. Gotta give it up to Theo.

As a citizen of Red Sox Nation who watched every inning of this World Series, I think this was a lot closer than everyone makes it out to be. In my opinion, only in Game 1 was the outcome not in doubt after the 5th or 6th inning. Great job Rox, hope to see you again next year.

As for the spending, yes the Sox have a $143 million payroll, but at least they spent it well. The Sox have that on the other $100/near-$100 million teams (I'm looking at you Mets, White Sox, Dodgers, etc). There are no Zitos, Pavanos, or Giambis on this team.

To the Sox front office: keep Lowell, forget A-Rod, get a couple pitchers, and keep drafting well. I'd like to repeat.

Well, Many is the second highest paid player in baseball, so to say there are no Giambi's is stretching it. BUT, Manny played well and earned his pay. BUT, JD Drew took a huge contract and played like crap! And Dice-K wasnt cheap either. But what bothers me is that some Redsox players felt they were underdogs, to them i call them retards and morons. They were picked to win it all from day 1.

Redsox do draft very well and that is what separates them from other 100 million dollar teams. Pediora and Ellsbury are just examples.

Side note- I dont count Ortiz when it comes to money. The Sox took him as a FA when nobody else wanted him so its kinda like an in house draftee. Great pickup for the Sox and stupid waiver for the Twins.

But yes, congrats must go out to Bean-Town. Regardless of team affiliation.

Dice-K and Manny are the only possible "Giambis" I can see on the Rox. They haven't lost all their young players due to trades and the like (read Yankees) and have done a great job knowing talent in the draft. This is easily the most well rounded team that I have seen in probably a decade.

Very true
Pending any stupid acquisition or injuries, they could easily win 1-2 more WS before this decade is over
