Cereal!

Who doesn't love cereal? A staple of our daily lives, here how they rank:

Original Classic

1. Corn Flakes

The classic cereal in mind opinion.

2. Rice Krispies

The clear audio winner of all cereals. Taste good too but I hate how they clump up in your teeth.

3. Cheerios

"My cereal is telling me something....its saying 'oooooo'"

"Peter, those are cheerios"

Variation of Classic

1. Cocoa Rice Krispies

Sweet, chocolately and crunchy. And chocolate milk when you're done!

2. Frosted Flakes

As was mentioned to me by Dews, the best part of Frosted Flakes is drinking the milk afterwords.

3. Honey Nut Cheerios

Solid and reliable. You'll know they'll come through

Underrated

1. Oh's

Sweet and tasty yet you can think they are healthy because they are toasted oats!

2. Golden Grahams

Clutch. Right when you think you're out of options there they are to save the day.

3. Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs

Calvin's favorite cereal and I'd imagine they'd be mine as well.

Overrated

1. Life

Blech...horrible, just...yuck.

2. Shreaded Wheat

Tastes just like it sounds...

3. Fruit Loops

All the taste of fruity pebbles in an annoying texture!

Sweet

1. Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs

Perhaps the greatest cereal of all time. I want to thank whoever thought..."hey...lets take candy and make it a cereal!" Genius...

2. Cap'N Crunch

Would be a contender for top cereal but the cuts to the roof of the mouth are too much to overcome.

3. Rice Krispies Treats

Everyone likes Rice Krispies Bars. They're just as good with milk added.

Fruit

1. Trix

Many a trip to the cereal bar stand at college was caused by Trix.

2. Apple Jacks

Controversy! I don't really know if Apple Jacks have any actual Apple flavor...but I like 'em and they're going in the fruit category.

3. Fruity Pebbles

Turns out I don't really like fruit...just sweet cereal claiming to be fruit.

Healthy

1. Grape Nuts

Nothing like knawing on some fiber early in the morning.

2. Total

Corn Flakes on roids.

3. Honey Bunches of Oats

Not really sure if these are healthy but my mom would buy them so they can't be that bad...

Hot

1. Cream of Wheat

The ultimate hot breakfast cereal. Pair it with brown sugar or Vermont maple syrup and you have yourself a winner.

2. Maypo

I remember liking it, but I don't remember how it tastes.

3. Quaker Oats

Never liked the stuff but a classic nontheless.

Top 5 Of All Time

1. Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs
2. Corn Flakes
3. Trix
4. Cream of Wheat
5. Oh's

And Dewey says I give Vermonters a bad name by the life I lead...

For shame Steve... For shame...

I would like to point out that Trix kept me from starving a lot my first year at college.. The food was so awful I would have trix for lunch and dinner a lot of the time..

Dews said...

That has to count for more points right?

Maybe we should do a more scientific poll then just let stoner Steve write this?

:)

I like that... "Stoner Steve"

Its better then "Monkey" I guess

MoDews said...

I agree.. Stoner Steve has a good ring to it

Dews said...

Wait...

This is probably a stupid question, given that my trying to be southern and all should have told me this, but do grits count as hot cereal?

Rosanne said...

How could you forget Chex, if only for the Chex Mix!?

Dews said...

Another solid pick...

We really are going to have to put a poll on here and do this more scientific like.

Maybe similar to the Top 50 women of TV. Somehow I have a feeling that Jaime Pressley will still get one first place vote as a cereal though. :)

Nothing with marshmallows huh? No Lucky Charms, Count Chocula (or Count Choculitis according to the Office) or Frankenberry huh?

Or the original cereal granola?

And how can you forget theses short-lived favorites? http://www.lavasurfer.com/cereal-ralston.html

I know I am missing many that I forced my parents to buy only to take them to the pond and feed the ducks 6 months later but for me you have to love...

Shredded mini-wheats! Come on it's basically half sugar the only way to start a Saturday morning.

hahaha, wow...you guys are defensive about your cereal...

Poll this bad boy up and we'll see what comes out on top!

Man, you and I differ on whats "good".

As for sweet, how could anyone forget Cookie Crisp??? Cookies for breakfast! Gave every kid that early morning sugar high.

As for my fav, I always had to have my Apple Jacks and Cocoa Puffs

Of course, now that im older I mostly eat the high fiber Special- K. Aging sucks!

Lucky Charms are still a staple in the pantry. Screw the fiber stuff. I'd rather enjoy my cereal.

Dewey, Cheatem, & Howe said...

No Cracklin Oat Bran? Come on, of all the healthy cereals, that's by far the best. My pantry staples are Cream of Wheat and Chex though. I'm with Rosanne, need the Chex.
