Never read drudge, but you're right his was just his lawyers suppressing a story, our information stated that it was sexual favors.

Dews- We have credible sources!!!! Of course he has to admit this scandal took place before we can celebrate.

Oh, 9pm, McCain press conference to address this story!

Jimmie said...

Yeah, sorry guys. Gonna have to go with drudge here. And also, technically it isn't a scoop to hint at a forth coming story by another organization when you didn't provide any details. It would be a scoop if you wrote the story, with credible citation/confirmation. Just a few cents of advice from someone who oh, was a journalist for eight years. Now if you really want to drub on the Old Man, do an in depth on the Keating Five for those of us too young to know the details.

Dews said...

Keating five is old news about old men.

People don't want to read about favors involving regulation WITHOUT a sex scandal...

This is a developing story guys, just wait it out... You remember the first stories when Lewinsky broke?

Jimmie, my family has been involved in press and politics for years, which is why I only ran with this when I had multiple sources that backed it up.

I hear rumors all the time, but I can't go with them unless there are multiple sources to back it up.

SayHey Kid said...

Exactly, that wouldnt make front page news.

I had my doubts initially Dews, but im curious to see how this pans out

I don't know though, Drudge's story was about McCain's lawyers trying to prevent NYT running a story about him and a lobbyist, we put the sex in there. Then again, look at our contributors, was there any doubt that they put the sex in it?

Dews said...

Yea, a story just about some bad connections between McCain and some lobbyist is not really all that suprising a news story really.

Hell, he routinely employs lobbyists for his office and campaign staff, why would another story of that connection make any waves?

The most unbelievable part of this story is the Sex aspect given the fact his wife looks like a blonde and slightly older version of that red-head on "Desperate Housewives", but perhaps she just isn't "doing it" for him?

One very good looking cougar though, that hopefully does not hang out at the Press Club with their own "cards"...

Jack Gonzo, MD said...

I found it amusing how alike his second wife and the lobbyist looks, perhaps in his old age he merely thought it WAS his wife.

SayHey Kid said...

I did find humor in that press conference. She spoke like a stepford wife and gave this blabber "ohh the children".

Either way, name a politician who hasnt had unethical dealings in congress??

Jimmie said...

Okay so you are saying you scooped the NYT by putting on your blog info from their story which you said they were sitting on? That is crap and doesn't give any credit to the hard work done by the reporters who actually did the work. That is almost like plagiarism... I think I just channeled Hilary Clinton. She is the walking dead after all.

Seriously though. Does this really matter and what are our options. So this hurts McCain, and helps Obama? Does that make November that much sweeter. Do we really want Romney to come back in the campaign? Or worse Bloomberg.

And finally I drag out the old war vet defense. He is a decorated war veteran and former POW. He can screw 72 blessed virgins for all I care, and until any of us has even remotely sacrificed half of what he has for our country then who are we to judge. Amen and pass the ammunition. Please Al Gore, you're our only hope.

Dews said...

He was a decorated war vet and someone I would have voted for in 2000, but the fact that he allowed the party to run those horrible ads on him in South Carolina and respond by essentially eating that shit and being a party lapdog showed him for the politician he is.

Its sad mostly because he did have an aura about him prior to that 2000 race where he could sell the "Straight-talk express" and be believable, but now he is no better then any other politician that bows to the whims of their party "for the greater good" bullshit.

I'll at least give Huckabee credit for ignoring the golden rule and staying in the race. At least he has some balls, even though it will definitely cost him his political career.

Jimmie said...

IF something knocks McCain out of the race, Huckabee is not the nominee. I am guessing Romney would "unsuspend" his campaign and there would be a wide open convention in Minnesota. That would be a riot. Oh, and Bloomberg runs as an independent if it happens sooner than later. That is my prediction, IF this kills McCain, which it won't. He got caught red handed in the Savings and Loan Scandal and got a slap on the wrist. he is teflon.

Dews said...

oh yea, I'm not convinced this will kill McCain, I just was giving credit to Huckabee for staying in the race based on ideals (not that I necessarily agree with them, but the principle anyway).

I would think Romney would jump back in as well, thats partially why I hinted at it in the Feb 7th article, and probably why Romney endorsed McCain so quickly to put himself in a position to gobble up McCain supporters if it did kill his campaign.

But hell, stranger things have happened, the GOP could just pick some random at the convention. Why not Newt? :)

Jack Gonzo, MD said...

I don't know, the GOP powers that be haven't been happy with the John McCain ticket and this may be the thing that cause the party to being to shift to Huckabee. I say Huckabee because Romney may be hurt by supporting McCain and endorsing him, which is why I was a bit shocked he did that.

Remember, this is the party of "values and morals" and this is yet again another sex scandal. The party right now is being split between traditional conservatives and religious right, this may get the RR to gain even more power as they attempt to take us closer toward a theocracy.

I give all the credit to the NYT reporters, but Dews did his part of keeping his ears open on the Hill. We're not a newspaper and don't report things as such. It isn't plagiarism since no piece had come out and no one had read it either way.

Finally, yes he is a POW, he has SAID he was against torture, but just recently voted against banning acts that are considered torture. I have respect for what he did and what he went through, but I'm not going to give any hypocrite a free pass.

At this point, is unlikely McCain will drop out. He also has a head over heals lead in delegates with only a few states remaining. He is still more than likely to be the RNC nominee, even with this scandal looming over his candidacy.
