Still Innocent..........

I know there are some major Barry Bonds haters on this blog, hell, we debate about it just about everyday in some fashion. But dont get your hopes of "smacking me down" or saying "I told you so" high just yet. Barry Bonds never tested positive for steroid use in 2001, as the Federal Government had indicated yesterday. I was shocked to have read that report yesterday, and so far, very happy that it is false. I love how the Government spun this as a "typo" a day after the report broke. If Bonds tested positive at any point of his career, then baseball would have broke that report when it happened. If they withheld that information, then baseball WILL be held accountable, as will Barry Bonds.

I'm starting to care less and less that he may have ever used (if he did) as far as his skill and talent goes.

He is a first ballot unanimous pick for me, though it will never happen.

He'll get in, but probably not on the first ballot, and definitely not unanimously (those sanctimonius shit-head voters and all...)

And in case anyone is keeping score at home, this is one issue me and SayHey agree completely on.

So:

Bonds = Dews and SayHey agree

Israel, Orioles, Fantasy Sports, everything else = Dews and SayHey do not agree

:)

Why did you have to bring up Israel?? A-Hole!

But yeh, statistically speaking, he is a first ballot HOFer. But due to his relationship with the media and this controversy, he may have to wait a few extra years.

yea, same with McGwire, though Bonds stats are off the charts comparatively.

I thought that the mistake was the year, and that Bonds tested positive in 2000, not 2001.

I don't know, more and more writers keep coming out and saying that if you had any dealings with Steroids they're gonna give you the Pete Rose treatment

I thought I read 2001. But regardless, it was a "typo"

Some writers say they will elect Bonds regardless. As they said about Clemens.

Just for the record....Bonds was never got caught bleeding from his ass. At least he has that going for him

No, his defense is I didn't KNOW it was steroids and HGH in the cream and the clear, which he DID take.

I'm hearing the same thing about Clemens and Bonds. As writer put it, look at Big Mac, he's not in and he's not getting closer to being in.

SayHey Kid said...

Nope, and im afraid Bonds will never make it. Which is a shame. BTW, he may have admitted to the cream, but other high profile players have admited to it as well. Bonds may have fucked up, but he isnt alone.

Fun fact. 3 top players for the HOF in 2014 are 1) Roger Clemens 2) Sammy Sosa 3) Barry Bonds

Damn, if only Jim Rice had 5 years left of eligability

Perhaps thats the year Andre Dawson FINALLY gets in

If Bonds doesnt stand a chance, I would still be happy with the Hawk

Okay I am going to be that guy...

I don't disagree that according to on the field records he deserves to be there and while I think the use of the roids was unethical (assuming he did, which I do) because the MLB officals, team drs, owners and coaches created this monster by ignoring the problem. If anybody should be banned for the roids fiasco it's those people who set up the culture that allows it.

My argument, if I had a vote, would be that his actions off the field prevent him from earning my vote. He does not need to be a saint but treating kids the way he has over the years and his basically SOB treatment of fans and the media has not earned him a place among the best ball players ever with an unanimous entry.

You can bring up Cobb and Ruth but the world is a different place with different standards of responsibility and I don't think he deserves a unanimous entry based off of the way he made many kids view baseball and possibly does not deserve it on the first ballot.

Well there is one thing that is for sure...all those Florida State football players are cheaters. No one can say that Say Hey isn't consistent in his support of questionable characters.

Perkins always has a way of kicking someone while their down.

Seeing how innocent his Chargers have been latelty, (I.E. Positive steroid test results and cocaine trafficing via cough syrup). Your in no positition to judge. Seems no teams are "perfect" and "guilt free" these days.

It is funny that the way you wrote this it made it seem like Bonds was vindicated. After reading the linked story I noticed that the typo involved should have read in 2000, not 2001, Bonds DID test positive. Anyways, they have since corrected it to properly read when Bonds did test POSITIVE and I expect a retraction on LSWTF since I hate the Giants and Barry Bonds and love that the mediocrity continues in NoCal as fitting karma for allowing Barry to taint a great record.
