Happy Opening Day!

Today is, without a doubt, one of my favorite days of the year: Major League Baseball's Opening Day. Well, it's kind of Opening Day. The rest of baseball won't get going for another week or so, but this morning the Red Sox and A's played a great one in Tokyo. For those of us who woke up early and had baseball with our bacon and eggs, we were rewarded with a great 6-5, 10-inning game. I managed to drag myself out of bed at 5-something this morning, shower, and have bacon and eggs and coffee ready by first pitch.
Thoughts on the game: 1) Daisuke scares me. He really does. 2) Sox are probably going to need to trade for another long reliever/spot starter 3) Manny Ramirez is on pace for 648 RBI, and he might actually do it 4) J.D. Drew is an enigma to me 5) I still can't stand Jerry Remy 6) Boston owes Emil Brown a beer. Thank you, Emil.

Fuckin Emil Brown, someone needs to steal his passport so he's stuck in Japan and can't come back with the team.

No, srsly, die Emil Brown.

Blanton looked pretty good until the...5th? 6th? What's the match-up tomorrow?

I promise I would've put up an A's logo if they'd won this morning.

Jack "Born with a bat in his hands" Cust is also on pace for 648 strikeouts...

Or basically a handful more then Adam Dunn and/or Ryan Howard.

I kid though, I like Cust, he's awesome :)

By the way, Jack Hannahan gets my early vote for Most Irish Baseball Name of the Year award. In fact, most of the A's lineup sounds like it was ripped from the pages of a 19th century Irish novel. Jack Cust, the Sweeneys, Jack Hannahan, etc.

By the way, have I ever mentioned that I have a deep and abiding hatred of Kiko Colero?

Luckily for me I had this game on the radio by the 4th inning. I agre, Blanton looked good up until the 5th. Dice-K sounded terrible as did Papelbon.

Player of the game goes to Emil "My name isnt Rickey Henderson" Brown, with honorable mention to the guy who is going to steal JD Drews job, Brandon Moss

Yeah, especially if Drew keeps begging out of the lineup just before the game. He's frustrating.

He has been like that his entire career, well, every year except that contract year back in 2003? 2004?
