2008 NFL Mock Draft Rounds 1 & 2 April 7, 2008

Between designing and printing programs and place cards I've somehow managed to squeeze in a mock draft. Welcome to those who are just joining us from Hail Redskins. Now I do have some thoughts about what draft day trades we'll see and I predict that it will involve the Dolphins and Cowboys enabling the Cowboys to get the number one pick so Jerry Jones can support his alma mater and take Darren McFadden, but for this mock I just went with what we already have set.

ROUND 1.
1. Miami Dolphins-Chris Long, DE, Virginia
People still talk about the possibility of Matt Ryan going to the Dolphins, this is nonsense since in the last five years Bill Parcells used each first round draft pick he had on a defensive player. It is a combination of the media hyping the only first round quarterback in the draft and the media's obsession with the quarterback position. Chris Long is the son of Howie, a fuckin monster who plays the game the way it should be played. Parcells knew this was his choice the moment he took the Dolphins job.
2. St Louis Rams-Jake Long, OT, Michigan
In my mind the closest thing to a sure thing in this draft as Parcells taking Long is the Rams taking Long as well, Jake Long. I think every offensive lineman on that team spent time on the DL last year, and Orlando Pace isn't a spring chicken anymore. Their game plan is throwing the ball and having Stephen Jackson make other defenses look like fools. They still want to be the greatest show on turf, and to do that you have to be able to block. The only way they don't take Jake Long in my mind is if there is Chris Long available to them at this spot. Though, I wouldn't put it past them to trade down and grab some picks as well.
3. Atlanta Falcons-Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
This will shock some of you, but look at who the new coach is. The Jaguars built their stellar defense around their defensive linemen and their defensive tackles in particular. You also need a leader who is solid, upright, and is a great representative for your organization. Glenn Dorsey is easily one of the best roles models in this draft, which is something the Falcons need after Vick, hall and letting Warrick Dunn go.
4. Oakland Raiders-Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
They have three running backs on their team currently who have been starters during their careers. Why would they take Darren McFadden? Cause this is Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders. Nevermind that he already has bar brawls on his resume, no other offensive player has been hyped this year as much as McFadden and The Godfather loves big names.
5. Kansas City Chiefs-Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Yes, I think Herm Edwards takes a chance, I don't are if Brodie Croyle is his boy or not. The two options they have right now were far form stellar last season and the Chiefs faithful aren't exactly a patient bunch. The Chiefs will be a team everyone will be watching as what they do could start a flurry of trades trying to get up and I can see the Jets trading down to acquire picks.
6. New York Jets-Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio State
Gholston's stock continues to rise after having a better pro-day then his combine, and his combine was easily one of the five best. Mangenius learned from Hoodie that you take the best player available on the board, and that's Gholston by a yard. He can fit in nicely with their 3-4 system and is the type of worker that they have come to expect from Ohio State, see Nick Mangold.
7. New England Patriots (via 49ers)-Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
The Patriots lost both starting corners in free agency so the drafting a corner seems like the smartest move, but look what I said above. They take the best player available and at this time the best player available is Sedrick Ellis. There are a good number of corners in this draft who can be very good players, so they don't need to pay that high corner money at this point in the draft, which the Patriots are also very wary to do.
8. Baltimore Ravens-Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy State
I'm not sure there will be a run on the corners in the first round as many else do. I think you'll see that tackle run, but not completely sold on corners, that's a lot of money to sink into a player. Ozzie Newsome is a part of those GMs though who take the best player available, most of the time, Kyle Boller was far from the best. Give McKelvin a year to adjust to this higher level of playing and in two years he'll be one on one with Braylon Edwards.
9. Cincinnati Bengals-Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
Defense, defense, defense, this should be the mantra of the Bengals' draft. I think Rivers will fit into their defense very well, specially with their adjustment to the 3-4 coming on. He's also an upstanding citizen, which is something else they need to look for when drafting.
10. New Orleans Saints-Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson
If the Saints somehow are able to land Glenn Dorsey watch New Orleans go nuts for the LSU Tiger. I wouldn't put it past the Saints trading up to try to land Glenn Dorsey which would continue to grab huge support from the community as they are coming down from the Reggie Bush excitement. Drafting Merling though allows them to move one of the bigger d-ends they have right now to tackle as their defensive line is still a big weakness for the Saints.
11. Buffalo Bills-Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
They've had one of the best draft records the last three or so years and this very well may be the year we see Buffalo really start to compete for that wild card spot. I say wildcard because as long as New England has Tom Brady I don't see any team in the AFC East over taking them. I'm a big fan of Talib and I think he fits in beautifully with mentality they're building in Buffalo.
12. Denver Broncos-Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State
Their offensive line is old, inexperienced and in shambles. This isn't good when your offense is on the shoulders of a third year quarterback. They need to protect Jay Cutler, and Ryan Clady I think is the best fit for their zone blocking scheme.
13. Carolina Panthers-Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
Imagine being a quarterback and seeing Julius Peppers on one side and Lawrence Jackson on the other, a daunting view from where I'm sitting. Now shipping Kris Jenkins to the Jets will no doubt make them think about local Tar Heel Kentwan Balmer, but I think Jackson is by far the better player overall and the one most likely to take the pressure off poster boy Julius Peppers.
14. Chicago Bears-Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
I've been preaching that the Bears will take a tackle for a very long time, but today this hit me. Benson hasn't worked out that well, and why not take the best Illinois player to enter the draft in decades? This kid is PHE-NOMINAL and I think is the best running back in the draft. It also works fan wise, taking the local college prospect is almost always looked at positively by the fans.
15. Detroit Lions-Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt
They have stated that this year they are focusing on the running game, they must establish the running game. Well, one has to block to establish the running game. If Mendenhall is available you'll see a path of fire where the Lions ran up to hand his card in, but with him gone they have to get the best lineman available.
16. Arizona Cardinals-Chris Williams, OT, Vandy
This is a big question mark for people, as they have a few big areas they could focus on in the first round. I went with the offensive tackle, help facilitate Edge running the ball and give some protection to Kurt Warner and Matt Leinart. Williams is a solid tackle who should make his share of prp bowls.
17. Minnesota Vikings-Derek Harvey, DE, Florida
I think the Vikings could go offensive tackle here as well, but for some reason I couldn't stop but picking Derek Harvey. They've almost been Lion-esque at times when it comes to drafting defensive ends in the first round and here it isn't much different. I think it gives them some speed at the end position that they're missing right now.
18. Houston Texans-Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
They will sit there, hoping and praying like good Texans, that Kenny Phillips land in their laps at number eighteen. They've been building that defense up to beat the Colts, putting this Miami General in charge of your air force is the next stop in toppling Peyton.
19. Philadelphia Eagles-DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
They have their pick of wide receivers, but I went with DeSean Jackson purely because of his return ability. He would take the load off of Westbrook, and we have seen over the last two years how return men are becoming more and more of a factor in the NFL, this just continues that trend.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, CB, Tennessee State
Their defense has been solid for years, almost a decade it seems, but with that comes age and it's time to start restock piling their shelves. I think DRC is the type of player Jon Gruden adores. I think he has untapped physical potential, he could be the most athletic player in this draft, and could be a huge steal at 20. He has the potential to be a damn good shut down corner.
21. Washington Redskins-Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
Pass rush is what they need most of all, but at 21 the real big name defensive ends are gone. Jason Campbell needs that tall wide receiver who can go up and snatch a pass if he's going to become one of those elite quarterbacks in the NFC. Kelly gives him that option, and moves Randal-El back to the slot, where he plays his best.
22. Dallas Cowboys (via Browns)-Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas
Step one, protect Tony Romo. At least, that's what it should be. Jerry Jones though is getting older and a bit more reminiscant about his past. He also hasn't seen Arkansas players this good come into the NFL since maybe the 70s. I believe he is determined to take one of those Arkansas running backs and make him a star. He doesn't want to risk losing Felix Jones, he takes him with their first of two.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers-Quentin Groves, DE/OLB, Auburn
They lost Alan Faneca, so taking Albert with their first round pick seems like a no-brainer, but rumor is circling that the Steelers are infatuated with Quentin Groves. One can see why, he is a dynamic player with great physical prowess and fits well into their defensive system. They can wait until the second round to grab a guard, Groves though won't be there.
24. Tennessee Titans-Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
I think there isn't a question that they will take at least two wide receivers in the draft, starting in the first round. Here though it depends on who the Eagles take, and they sort of get the left overs. I think Kelly and Sweed are so close together that it's a toss em. I do think over the long haul though Sweed is the better NFL caliber player as were Kelly may be a number 2 or slot receiver. It doesn't matter though, the Skins have selected Kelly and that allows the Titans to reunite Sweed and Young.
25. Seattle Seahawks-Fred Davis, TE, USC
They took care of some of their needs via free agency, especially at the running back position. Now they have Alexander, Morris, Duckett AND Julius Jones. I wouldn't be surprised if each of them got their own specific down and distance, maybe even 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th downs. So drafting a running back is no longer a first round priority. I still think they need a dynamic tight end for the west coast offense and Fred Davis to me is above and beyond the best tight end in the draft.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
He may have the most upside of any defensive end, save for Gholston and Long, as he has the pure physical ability that may be unmatched in this draft. The problem is his motor, can Jack Del Rio motivate Campbell to play to the best of his ability? If he can, then they made a steal at 26.
27. San Diego Chargers-Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
They have this one draft pick until I think the fourth or fifth round, maybe even until 2009 the rate they're going. They desperately need another offensive tackle to book end their offensive line, protect the trash talker and LT. To me, this is the only kind of pick that makes sense with as few picks as they have in this draft.
28. Dallas Cowboys-Curtis Lofton, ILB, Oklahoma
Once again I think they will go away from what people expect them to do. Their inside linebackers don't exactly strike fear in the hearts of anyone, even with the Zach Thomas addition. Taking Curtis Lofton, a player much in the same mold of Zach Thomas, allows him to learn from the veteran and become the general that defense needs.
29. San Francisco 49ers (via Colts)-Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
With the addition of Issac Bruce wide receiver is no longer a given for the Niners in the first round. Their secondary though needs an immediate injection of youth and talent. They spent the farm on Clements, but that didn't result in the success they were expecting. Jenkins I believe is the type of player Mike Nolan cherishes and would probably end up starting over Walt Harris before the season began.
30. Green Bay Packers-Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech
The Packers are an interesting team as they don't have that many weaknesses and needs in regards to the draft. Their corners are getting quiet old, especially in the NFL and it may be time to draft a corner in the first time, for the first time in a very long time. I'm not as sold as Flowers as other people are, but he'll be serviceable and I honestly don't know who else they could take here.
31. New York Giants-Erin Henderson, OLB, Maryland
They lost Mitchell in the offseason, who was all over the field during the Super Bowl. I can't say enough how much I enjoy watching Erin Henderson play. I think he would fit in very well with that Giants style of football. The only other option I can see here is maybe going after Antoine Cason and getting another young corner, or reaching for a safety.

ROUND 2
32. Miami Dolphins-Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
33. St Louis Rams-Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
34. Atlanta Falcons via Raiders-Chad Henne, QB, Michigan
35. Kansas City Chiefs-Reggie Smith, CB, Oklahoma
36. New York Jets-Early Doucet, WR, LSU
37. Atlanta Falcons-Terrell Thomas, CB, USC
38. Baltimore Ravens-Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
39. San Francisco 49ers-Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan
40. New Orleans Saints-Dustin Keller, TE, Purdue
41. Buffalo Bills-John Carlson, TE, Notre Dame
42. Denver Broncos-Branden Albert, G, Virginia
43. Carolina Panthers-Joe Flacco, QB, Delaware
44. Chicago Bears-Sam Baker, OT, USC
45. Detroit Lions-Michael Grant, CB, Arkansas
46. Cincinnati Bengals-Red Bryant, DT, Texas A&M
47. Minnesota Vikings-Josh Barrett, S, Arizona St
48. Atlanta Falcons (via Texans)-James Hardy, WR, Indiana
49. Philadelphia Eagles-Kevin Ellison, S, USC
50. Arizona Cardinals-Tavares Gooden, OLB, Miami
51. Washington Redskins-Jason Jones, DE, Eastern Michigan
52. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Cliff Avril, DE/OLB, Purdue
53. Pittsburgh Steelers-Chilo Rachal, G, USC
54. Tennessee Titans-Tracy Porter, CB, Indiana
55. Seattle Seahawks-DaJuan Morgan, S, North Carolina State
56. Green Bay Packers (via Browns)-Jonathon Stewart, RB, Oregon
57. Miami Dolphins (via Chargers)-Donnie Avery, WR, Houston
58. Jacksonville Jaguars-Trevor Laws, DT, Notre Dame
59. Indianapolis Colts-Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
60. Green Bay Packers-Oniel Cousins, OT, UTEP
61. Dallas Cowboys-Dexter Jackson, WR, Appalachian State
62. New England Patriots-Spencer Larsen, ILB, Arizona
63. New York Giants-Ahtyba Rubin, DT, Iowa State

2008 NFL Mock Draft Rounds 1-5 Jan 23rd

We're beginning to get a better picture of who is being looked at favorably and who is letting their stock drop dramatically this week during Senior Bowl practices. Some of the players that I've been high on scouts and GMs are starting to come around about, which is always nice.

ROUND 1
1. Miami Dolphins-Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
There's been a lot of talk that the Dolphins will take Matt Ryan first, I don't believe that for a second. Bill Parcells and their new coach are defensive people and they know they have to face the number one offense in the NFL two times a year. Glenn Dorsey is either the best, or at least in the conversation, defensive tackles to come out in the last five years.
2. St Louis Rams-Jake Long, OT, Michigan
There has been just as much talk about the Rams taking Chris Long over Jake Long, this is nonsense. The Rams were devastated this year, not just because of their defense, but because I don't know if they had an offensive lineman who didn't spend time on the injured list.
3. Atlanta Falcons-Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
I've thought about Ryan, but to be honest they've been burned on first round quarterbacks for pretty much their entire franchise history. Dunn isn't getting any younger and needs a replacement. McFadden has the possibility to be something really special.
4. Oakland Raiders-Chris Long, DE, Virginia
Ah, the legacy pick, and perhaps one of the best fitting picks in this entire draft. Chris Long can only play for the Raiders, he won't look right on any other team. I do hope the Raiders win the toss or what have you that gives them this pick as Chris Long was destined since birth to be an Oakland Raider.
5. Kansas City Chiefs-Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St
The Chiefs are a wildcard here at the fifth spot. I think teams may try dealing with them as the Chiefs SHOULD be looking for a starting tackle in the first round and after Jake Long any of the remaining four first round have so little difference between themselves.
6. New York Jets-Dan Connor, ILB, Penn State
The Jets are also a team that may or may not move down, it all depends (in my mind) if Darren McFadden is available or not. Dan Connor is now the top inside backer left in the draft since the Road Warrior decided to stay in school. There is a lack of quality inside linebackers in this draft, hence why he's drafted over a defensive tackle.
7. New England Patriots (via Niners)-Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
Without the Road Warrior, the Patriots can move their attention to another spot where their age is showing, safety. Rodney Harrison could retire when they win the Super Bowl next weekend which makes the safety position an immediate need for the Patriots. Kenny Phillips is head and shoulders above every other safety in this draft class.
8. Baltimore Ravens-Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
The Ravens are the team that take the chance on Matt Ryan, who seems to be pissing everyone off this week with his choice to sit out the Senior Bowl. That decision probably cost Matt Ryan a good ten million dollars, if not more.
9. Cincinnati Bengals-Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
I thought about which direction the Bengals would go, defensive tackle or linebacker. Either way, they'd be drafting another USC Trojan. I went with Keith Rivers since he is probably the best outside linebacker in the draft, Sedrick Ellis can't say the same.
10. New Orleans Saints-Curtis Lofton, ILB, Oklahoma
The Saints need defense in the worst way, especially in the middle and we're talking every level of defense too. Some could argue that Lofton is better then Dan Connor, and I think those opinions will solidify after the Senior Bowl and Combine. Until then, I think the Saints will go after the linebacker before the defensive tackle.
11. Buffalo Bills-Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
The Bills have more draft picks on this list then any other team, it's ridiculous how many picks they have this year. That being said I expect them to move up in many places cause of these extra picks. Sedrick Ellis is a special player, and including him on that defensive line would be a big boost for the Bills.
12. Denver Broncos-Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt
Protect Jay Cutler, that should be the mantra during the first round. After that they need some defenders to stop other teams. Jeff Otah can give the Broncos that left tackle protection every team needs. I don't put him in the elite level myself, but I think he could go this high to the Broncos.
13. Carolina Panthers-Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
I'm back and forth on whether the Panthers will take a first round quarterback. If Brohm falls this far to them, I think they won't waste any time taking this pick. I don't know how Brohm will fair as a professional, but I do think he has the right mental makeup to succeed.
14. Chicago Bears-Sam Baker, OT, USC
Here are a few words describing the Bears offensive line as told by Bear fans. Old, decrypted, shitty, replaceable. Sam Baker is a damn fine tackle, and one that will be reliable for the next decade baring injury. I think he fits that Bears mentality very well and should be their pick without thought.
15. Detroit Lions-Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
Talib has the ability to come in and be their best corner since the days of Night Train Lane. He is a special kind of talent at the corner position. Not one that will wow you with his physical ability, but watch his game tapes, this kind breaks on the ball like no one in years.
16. Arizona Cardinals-Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
With Balmer falling this far, the Cardinals have to put their running back plans on hold until the second round. He is a versatile player who gives them a lot of different options defensively, which the Wundertstaches will love. Now, he has the ability but I'm not completely sold yet on his motor.
17. Minnesota Vikings-Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State
An absolute steal at the 17th pick, Gholston fits that new Viking defensive mentality to a t. They've tried drafting defensive ends for years now with little success, this one I think has the chance to be a star in the NFL. He is the type of player who can take over games when he's motivated. The question then is, how does one motivate him?
18. Houston Texans-Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
They've been going defense in the first round for the last couple of years, and if Kenny Phillips had fallen to them they still would. With Phillips off the board though, they have to take Mendenhall who I feel has a very real and good opportunity to be the next big star in the NFL. He makes plays happen, don't believe me, watch the Rose Bowl and what he was able to do a few times against a defense filled with first day talent.
19. Philadelphia Eagles-DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
Not the big receiver most think they need, but also brings that return ability to the team. Teams are beginning to realize how important it is to have a premier return man on your team, hell the Dolphins passed up a quarterback for one in last year's draft. This pick is made in the hopes it keeps Brian Westbrook healthier longer.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
Taking the local kid would be a wise move for the Buccaneers. He may have the most physical talents of any cornerback in the draft, and has that mentality that would fit in well with Chucky and his Buccs. He also gets time to learn from Ronde Barber before he follows in his twin's footsteps and retires.
21. Washington Redskins-Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
I believe I was the first mock draft to call this pick, now everywhere I look everyone is following my lead and selection Lawrence Jackson for the Redskins. I wish Jackson could go to a better team that would appreciate him, but at least he is going to a team that desperately needs his services.
22. Dallas Cowboys (via Browns)-Jonathan Hefney, S, Tennessee
The first three draft picks of the Cowboys will likely be Safety, Offensive Tackle and Wide Receiver. Now I think the receiver will come in the second round, but between safety and tackle, I went with Hefney first since there are teams between their two picks who need a safety as well. I also wouldn't put it past them to trade up with Kansas City or the Jets so they can get Kenny Phillips.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers-Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
Well, it isn't the big name wide receiver that Big Ben wanted but it is a hell of a wide receiver that they can give him. I'm not sold as much as others are on how he will play in the NFL, but he has all the physical tools needed to succeed. It would allow Holmes to move to slot, where he'd be much more dangerous.
24. Tennessee Titans-Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
No matter what I do, how many times I change my talent order or who drafts who the Tennessee Titans always seem to end up with Limas Sweed. Perhaps it is my subconscious making me put Longhorn with Longhorn, but I don't know. I think it's a great selection and definitely will help Vince Young's progression as a quarterback.
25. Seattle Seahawks-Jonathon Stewart, RB, Oregon
Shawn Alexander is more or less done in Seattle as he is merely a shell of his former self. Morris is a good, solid backup, but he isn't starting material. I think Stewart has a real chance to be the Fred Taylor of this draft, the reliable and constantly gaining yardage back who doesn't get the credit he rightfully deserves.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-James Hardy, WR, Indiana
An absolute steal for the Jaguars at 26. If this many teams sleep on James Hardy it may end up being the biggest kicking oneself in the ass since teams passed up Randy Moss and Ladanian Tomlinson. Hardy is a one man Human Highlight Film, and the first real receiver Garrard will have as a starter.
27. San Diego Chargers-Beau Bell, ILB, UNLV
This is a tough spot for the Chargers as they only have the first round pick until the fourth round. I went with Beau Bell here since I think he's a far better linebacker the Jerod Mayo, and will be in the NFL as well. AJ Smith has been known to make picks that have folks scratching their heads, and he usually ends up being right.
28. Dallas Cowboys-Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt
Chris Williams is a solid offensive tackle. I wouldn't put him in the first round, but I don't think the Cowboys will stay this low either. Their line is just behind the Bears when it comes to certain aspects so I expect them to start rebuilding the line this year.
29. San Francisco 49ers (via Colts)-Early Doucet, WR, LSU
Doucet may be ideally suited for the Mike Martz style of offense so perhaps this selection will help Say Hey sleep better at night. He may be no Torry Holt or Issac Bruce, he can be a Kevin Curtis who will get you first downs when you need them, a Wes Welker if you will.
30. Green Bay Packers-Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas
If the playoffs showed us anything it's that the Packers may not be and shouldn't be completely sold on Ryan Grant, starting running back. Felix Jones has all the talent to succeed, and knows how supplement the main attraction until it's his turn for the light to be shown his way.
31. New York Giants-Erin Henderson, OLB, Maryland
Well, this Giant team may not be as bad as we all thought it was, but certain areas need improvement, one of them being outside linebacker. If Henderson is as good as the last two linebackers from Maryland (Jackson and Merriman) then he is an absolute steal for the Giants at the 31st pick of the draft.
32. New England Patriots-Forefit

ROUND 2
1. Miami Dolphins-Reggie Smith, CB, Oklahoma
Another solid defensive player for a team that is going to be built around its defense.
2. St Louis Rams-Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
A physical steal in the second round if they can jumpstart his motor.
3. Oakland Raiders-Anthony Collins, OT, Kansas
They've been looking for that tackle solution for years, he's at least a solid tackle.
4. Kansas City Chiefs-Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy St
Both of their starters are over the age of 30, time to get young, McKelvin shows real promise, though his competition is questionable.

5. New York Jets-Red Bryant, DT, Texas A&M
This kid is showing just how good he is this week at the Senior Bowl, he gets IT.
6. Atlanta Falcons-Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky
A stretch, I don't think Woodson will be NFL ready for years.
7. Baltimore Ravens-Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
Understand when I say he's very underrated I mean it with the utmost respect.
8. San Francisco 49ers-Josh Barrett, S, Arizona State
Barrett is a beast at safety, the Niners may not find one better for their defense.
9. New Orleans Saints-Pat Sims, DT, Auburn
Much like Bryant, he's definitely showing his stuff this week and proving that he deserves to be in the conversation of best defensive tackles in this draft.

10. Buffalo Bills-Terrell Thomas, CB, USC
Under appreciated, probably because he plays on a defense filled with talent.
11. Denver Broncos-Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech
I think he's a bit overrated, so it doesn't sadden me to have him go to Mile High.
12. Carolina Panthers-Derek Harvey, DE, Florida
An interesting pick, he has the athletic ability to give the Panthers the most athletic defensive end combo in the NFL.
13. Chicago Bears-Joe Flacco, QB, Delaware
I think this kid will be the wunderkid to come out of this draft and everyone will kick themselves over.
14. Detroit Lions-Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
They have serious offensive line problems, Monroe is a solid tackle who they can rely on, though he isn't a Joe Thomas by any stretch of the imagination.

15. Cincinnati Bengals-Marcus Harrison, DT, Arkansas
I'm not completely sold yet on Harrison, though he has the talent.
16. Minnesota Vikings-Kevin Ellison, S, USC
Much the same problem as Terrell Thomas, he will do wonders with the Vikings.
17. Atlanta Falcons (via Texans)-Robert Felton, G, Arkansas
They need some blockers to open up holes for Darren McFadden, why not a teammate?
18. Philadelphia Eagles-Tom Zbikowski, S, Notre Dame
Of course the Phily fans would love this pick, the kid is a boxer.
19. Arizona Cardinals-Kevin Smith, RB, UCF
I'm not sold on Kevin Smith, but having Edge gives them the luxury to take a chance on Smith, it's always tough to judge highly productive college running backs, especially at a small school.

20. Washington Redskins-Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan
The Redskins finally get that tall wide receiver they've been needing for years.
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Ali Highsmith, OLB, LSU
A tremendous talent, who can be a great pupil under Derrick Brooks.
22. Pittsburgh Steelers-Chilo Rachal, G, USC
A fine replacement for Alan Faneca, one who has the tools to surpass him one day.
23. Tennessee Titans-Tracy Porter, CB, Indiana
We don't know yet whether or not Pacman will be back, better take no chances.
24. Seattle Seahawks-Fred Davis, TE, USC
The West Coast offense needs dynamic tight ends, who do the Seahawks have? Fred Davis very well may go onto the Seahawks and be their best receiver.

25. Cleveland Browns-Dre Moore, DT, Maryland
This kid is turning heads like no ones business this week. The three defensive tackles taken in round two could end up performing better then the round one defensive tackles.
26. Miami Dolphins (via Chargers)-Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn
He is much in the built and style of Jason Taylor, and would be his eventual successor.
27. Jacksonville Jaguars-Xavier Adibi, OLB, Virginia Tech
I'm not sold on Adibi, he's a bit undersized for my taste at outside linebacker.
28. Indianapolis Colts-Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
His stock is dropping this week as he's getting killed during practice.
29. Green Bay Packers-Craig Steltz, S, LSU
A man who could reign havoc and unleash the dogs of war along side Atari Bigby.
30. Dallas Cowboys-Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State
Devin Thomas smells like complete bust to me, but time will tell.
31. New York Giants-Trevor Laws, DT, Notre Dame
They need a defensive tackle to keep blockers off of Antonio Pierce.
32. New England Patriots-Jerod Mayo, ILB, Tennessee
Like I said before, not a big fan, but he has athletic talent and folks change when with the Patriots.

ROUND 3
1. Miami Dolphins-Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma
A massive mountain of a man, a good choice to block for Ronnie Brown.
2. St Louis Rams-Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa
A good physical corner, something the Rams have needed since Dre Bly.
3. Kansas City Chiefs-Kennan Burton, WR, Kentucky
A steal, absolute steal, in the third round. On my own list, I'd put him in the top three.
4. New York Jets-Jamaal Charles, RB, Texas
I know, a bit of a stretch for the Jets here since they have Thomas Jones, but it gives them a change of pace.

5. Atlanta Falcons-Barry Richardson, OT, Clemson
You have a running back and quarterback, now it's time to protect them.
6. New England Patriots (via Raiders)-Darrell Robertson, OLB, Georgia Tech
This player is perfect for the Patriots due to his versatility.
7. San Francisco 49ers-Adam Kraus, G, Michigan
Michigan almost always produces solid offensive linemen, and Larry Allen is getting old.
8. Buffalo Bills (via Ravens)-Adrian Arrington, WR, Michigan
I've heard from Bills fans that they want a dynamic wide receiver, to me he is top five in this draft.
9. Buffalo Bills-Martellus Bennett, TE, Texas A&M
They need a tight end as one is hurt and Robert Royal hasn't done much for them.
10. Minnesota Vikings (via Broncos)-Kirk Barton, OT, Ohio State
I'm not sold on Barton, but he's apparently doing quite well this week at the Senior Bowl.
11. Carolina Panthers-Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers
Their running backs are always hurt, Rice could be a great surprise for them in the third round.
12. Chicago Bears-Marcus Griffin, S, Texas
His brother has done well in the NFL, and I always thought Marcus was the better player.
13. Detroit Lions-Jermichael Finley, TE, Texas
This depends on the type of offense the Lions go to, but they need a tight end.
14. Cincinnati Bengals-Carl Nicks, OT, Nebraska
Willie Anderson has been playing for ten years, bout time for that injury to hit.
15. New Orleans Saints-Dustin Keller, TE, Purdue
You have to know that Drew Brees misses an athletic tight end to throw to.
16. Houston Texans-Chad Rinehart, G, Northern Iowa
A great player with an even greater motor, a solid pick up for the Texans while they build that offensive line.
17. Philadelphia Eagles-Tony Hills, OT, Texas
A big wall to put between the defense and Kevin Kolb, and has experience for blocking for a back like Westbrook.
18. Arizona Cardinals-Heath Benedict, OT, Newberry
He's a diamond in the rough that Wisengrimm could mold to their taste.
19. Minnesota Vikings-Donnie Avery, WR, Houston
The fastest man in the draft, let him run it out and Jackson just bomb it.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Steve Slaton, RB, West Virginia
A HUGE stretch here, but he'd be use in certain formations and has the chance to make a big play.
21. Washington Redskins-Jamie Silva, S, Boston College
A solid safety, and far enough back to not have to deal with Sean Taylor comparisons...too much.
22. Tennessee Titans-Andre Fluellen, DT, Florida State
Another of the head turners at the Senior Bowl, could be devastating next to Haynesworth.
23. Seattle Seahawks-Mike Pollack, C, Arizona State
24. Cleveland Browns-Titus Brown, DE/OLB, Mississippi State
Showed real promise during the season, but undersized for a defensive end.
25. Pittsburgh Steelers-Allen Patrick, RB, Oklahoma
Willie Parker broke his leg, and Davenport is getting older, the smart pick would be Patrick.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-Wesley Woodard, S, Kentucky
A kid who loves football, and it shows when he plays, would fit great with Jaguars.
27. Chicago Bears (via Chargers)-Erik Young, G, Tennessee
The rebuilding of the offensive line continues, should be a solid NFL player.
28. Green Bay Packers-Steve Justice, C, Wake Forest
One of my top five interior linemen of the draft, would be great fit for the Packers.
29. Dallas Cowboys-Geno Hayes, OLB, Florida State
Don't know where they would use him, but the kid will be all over the field.
30. Indianapolis Colts-Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson
Not sold on him, but could do very well in the Colts style of defense.
31. New York Giants-DeJuan Tribble, CB, Boston College
His stock is taking a free fall this week as he keeps getting burned.
32.New England Patriots-Justin King, CB, Penn State
King would be a great addition to the Patriots secondary who does nothing but reload.

ROUND 4
1. Miami Dolphins-Vince Hall, ILB, Virginia Tech
A Parcells type middle linebacker, shouldn't last till the fourth, a steal if he does.
2. St Louis Rams-Ezra Butler, OLB, Nevada
He very well may end up being this draft's DeMeco Ryans, which is great news for the Rams.
3. New York Jets-Earl Bennett, WR, Vanderbilt
Their current receiving corps are mainly possession receivers, this is a horse of a different color and flavor all together.
4. Atlanta Falcons-DJ Hall, WR, Alabama
It may just be me, but their receiving corps is just missing something.
5. Oakland Raiders-Eddie Royal, WR, Virginia Tech
Fits into their style of offense, and is said to have the surest hands at the Senior Bowl.
6. Kansas City Chiefs-Matt Forte, RB, Tulane
Larry Johnson is coming off injury, and Kolby may not be the answer, late enough to take a chance.
7. Baltimore Ravens-Jonathon Goff, ILB, Vanderbilt
They want to move certain folks back to the outside, Goff enables them to do so.
8. San Francisco 49ers-Jack Ikegwuonu, CB, Wisconsin
An underrated corner who may be more of a solid nickle man in the NFL.
9. Denver Broncos-Frank Okam, DT, Texas
If they can get him to produce like he did two years ago, a steal.
10. Carolina Panthers-Lavelle Hawkins, WR, Cal
Everyone thinks they will draft a wide receiver in this draft, not sure why, but there ya go.
11. Chicago Bears-Mike Hart, RB, Michigan
Benson may not be the answer, and Peterson isn't purple Jesus.
12. Detroit Lions-James Davis, RB, Clemson
They say they want to focus more on running the ball, problem is Kevin Jones is always hurt.
13. Cincinnati Bengals-Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, CB/S, Tennessee State
He's been moved to safety this week, we'll see how he does there.
14. New Orleans Saints-Trae Williams, CB, South Florida
To say their secondary played horrible this season would be an understatement.
15. Buffalo Bills-Cody Wallace, C, Texas A&M
The best interior lineman on the board, something they need.
16. Philadelphia Eagles-Chris Johnson, RB, East Carolina
Brian Westbrook isn't getting much younger, and their other picks haven't panned out.
17. Arizona Cardinals-Ben Moffitt, ILB, South Florida
Should be all over the field for the Cardinals, if he can adjust to the speed.
18. Minnesota Vikings-Roy Schuening, G, Oregon State
He's finally starting to get some recognition during Senior Bowl week.
19. Houston Texans-Dwight Lowery, CB, San Jose State
An absolute steal in the fourth round, he'll be a star for the Texans.
20. Washington Redskins-Jacky Claude, G, Florida State
Their offensive line was banged up this year, this is more for depth then anything.
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-J Leman, ILB, Illinois
A kid that will go right to Jon Gruden's heart, should excel in the Tampa 2.
22. Seattle Seahawks-Shannon Tevaga, G, UCLA
Their interior line play was one of the reasons Alexander had the season he had.
23. Cleveland Browns-Shawn Crabble, OLB, Michigan
A local kid who dreams of playing for the Browns, hopefully his dreams will come true.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers-Ahtyba Rubin, DT, Iowa State
Finally getting some attention at Senior Week, could be a serious sleeper.
25. Tennessee Titans-Dorien Bryant, WR, Purdue
Yes, they have Sweed, but they steal need some receivers since they currently only have one.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-Chad Henne, QB, Michigan
They only have Garrard and Gray on their roster as far as I know, late enough to take a chance on Henne.
27. San Diego Chargers-No Pick Due To Supplemental Draft
28. Green Bay Packers-John Greco, OT, Toledo
If Favre does come back next season, he needs protection and Greco could surprise people.
29. Dallas Cowboys-Justin Forsett, RB, Cal
Julius Jones will likely be let go in the offseason, I can see San Diego picking him up.
30. Indianapolis Colts-Jasper Brinkley, ILB, South Carolina
It's about that time that the Colts need to restock their linebacking shelves.
31. New York Giants-Brander Albert, G, Virginia
Their offensive line is beat to hell right now, which usually is a sign of age.
32. New England Patriots-Owen Schmitt, FB, West Virginia
I've said it before so I'll say it again, best player team fit next to Chris Long and the Raiders.

ROUND 5
1. Kansas City Chiefs (via Dolphins)-Bruce Davis, OLB, UCLA
Donnie Edwards isn't getting any younger, Davis gives them serious athletic ability at the position.
2. St Louis Rams-Harry Douglas, WR, Louisville
For the first time in a while I think the Rams need some wide receiving help.
3. Atlanta Falcons-Curtis Gatewood, OLB, Vanderbilt
A solid linebacker who should have a long and fruitful career.
4. Denver Broncos (via Raiders)-Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
He knows how to make tackles for losses, but not sure if he's NFL material.
5. Kansas City Chiefs-Michael Hamlin, S, Clemson
I'm torn on Hamlin as I see promise there, Edwards can make that promise a reality.
6. New York Jets-John Carlson, TE, Notre Dame
A solid pick, especially in an offense that needs good tight ends to succeed.
7. San Francisco 49ers-Pedro Sosa, OT, Rutgers
Sosa is worth taking a chance on in the fifth, could compliment to Staley.
8. Baltimore Ravens-No Pick Due To Supplemental Draft
9. Chicago Bears (via Panthers)-Jordy Nelson, WR, Kansas State
I don't think Berrian will stay in Chicago, so time for a replacement.
10. Buffalo Bills (via Bears)-Corey McKeon, ILB, Nebraska
The Bills have so many picks, if they don't move up in the draft with them many will just be for roster depth.
11. Detroit Lions-Terrance Taylor, DT, Michigan
They saw their defensive tackle play decline as the season prolonged.
12. Cincinnati Bengals-Chris Ellis, DE, Virginia Tech
Another player I'm not completely sold at, he hasn't shown me to be a dominate defensive end.
13. New Orleans Saints-Jerome Simpson, WR, Coast Carolina
You have to give Drew Brees more targets if you want him to excel.
14. Buffalo Bills-Phillip Wheeler, OLB, Georgia Tech
An interesting player who can be a special teams hawk with his speed.
15. Denver Broncos-Kirk Elder, G, Texas A&M
Elder is a solid interior lineman who should fit in well with Denver's blocking scheme.
16. Arizona Cardinals-Martin Rucker, TE, Missouri
A more of a receiving tight end then what they currently have.
17. Minnesota Vikings-David Vobora, OLB, Idaho
Vobora is another one of my choices to be the DeMeco Ryans of this draft.
18. Houston Texans-Jason Jones, DE, Eastern Michigan
Jones has the physical tools to be a great compliment to Mario Williams.
19. Philadelphia Eagles-Chris Harrington, DE, Texas A&M
Jevon Kearse is getting up there in years, Harrington could be a successor.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-James McClinton, DT, Kansas
It feels like they've been missing that dominate defensive tackle since Sapp left.
21. New York Jets (via Redskins)-Quintin Demps, S, UTEP
They play the Patriots twice a season, one can never have enough secondary for that purpose.
22. Cleveland Browns-Marcus Monk, WR, Arkansas
Monk's size is the most attractive aspect, his knee may still be a question though.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers-Kendall Langford, DE, Hampton
Another diamond in the rough, something the Steelers seem to find and mold beautifully.
24. Tennessee Titans-Thomas DeCoud, S, Cal
Much like the Dolphins and Jets playing the Patriots twice a year, the Titans have the Colts twice a year.
25. Seattle Seahawks-Josh Johnson, QB, San Diego
Hasselback isn't exactly getting older, and who really thinks Seneca Wallace is an NFL starter?
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-Joe Burnett, CB, UCF
One can never have enough cornerbacks when one plays against the Colts twice.
27. San Diego Chargers-Wallace Gilberry, DE, Alabama
A defensive end who makes tackles, lots of tackles, a rare find these days.
28. Green Bay Packers-Spencer Larsen, ILB, Arizona
This is more for depth then anything, Larsen can set himself apart with special team tackles.
29. Dallas Cowboys-Peyton Hillis, FB, Arkansas
If they plan on Marion Barber being their sole back, they need someone to lead block for him.
30. Indianapolis Colts-Jameel McClain, OLB/DE, Syracuse
A versatile player, one that can do outside linebacker or defensive end, the type of player Tony Dungy loves.
31. New York Giants-Kenny Iwebema, DE, Iowa
Strahan isn't getting any older so they need the backup to Osi and Tuck.
32. New England Patriots-Paul Hubbard, WR, Wisconsin
They'll likely lose at least one of their wide receivers in the off season.

2008 NFL Mock Draft Rounds 1-3 Dec 12th

I had a draft ready to go for today, but with Bobby Petrino resigning from the Falcons threw the entire draft for a loop. I also rethought Miami's first pick, which definitely changed the draft as well. Again I urge all you visitors to leave me your thoughts, you can post anonymously, of who you would like to see your team acquire be it a specific player or position.

ROUND 1
1. Miami Dolphins-Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
I thought long about this selection and chose this for two reason. One, Ronnie Brown is coming back from a knee injury and they have no clue how healthy he is going to be. He could be the same back from this year, and he could fall short like so many do after a knee injury. Second, the Patriots have a pick two after them and the Falcons won't be taking McFadden. They have to select McFadden or face him twice a year.
2. Atlanta Falcons-Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky
Petrino has left, but their need for a quarterback has not. I think with the community and the style of football they desire to play, Woodson is the best choice out of the three first round quarterbacks. He should be able to lead that team very quickly, depending on who their coach ends up being.
3. New England Patriots (via 49ers)-James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio St
Junior Seau MIGHT have one more year left in him, so taking the Road Warrior takes priority over taking Chris Long. I think he would fit into that defensive scheme better then OJ's gloves. He has the right personality to be exactly the kind of player that the Patriots love.
4. St Louis Rams-Jake Long, OT, Michigan
It is no secret that the Rams have had their share of injuries on the offensive line this year, so don't be surprised when three of their seven draft picks end up being offensive linemen. I know Dorsey and Chris Long will be very tempting to take, but their offense has been hampered by having zero offensive linemen.
5. New York Jets-Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
The Jets must have done something right for Dorsey to fall right into their lap at number five. There are five definite number one picks in this draft, the Jets get lucky by the Falcons taking a player that isn't one of them. The Jets would be happy to take any of those number one players.
6. Baltimore Ravens-Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
The Ravens are another team that has a pressing need that will force them to pass up someone like Chris Long. Now, if Troy Smith looks like a Heisman the rest of this season, this pick could and very likely would change, but still not to Long but more likely to Malcolm Jenkins. Ryan should be decent for the Ravens, as he tends to make the fewest mistakes out of the three first round quarterbacks.
7. Kansas City Chiefs-Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St
The Chiefs have no need for a defensive end, so they could trade back from here so they can get Sam Baker, but if they don't look for them to take the number one corner in the draft, Malcolm Jenkins. Their secondary is starting to age like the San Francisco Giants outfield, so this is an immediate need.
8. Oakland Raiders-Chris Long, DE, Virginia
By the power of the dark side, the Emperor manages to aquire Howie Longs son, which I guess in essence turns him into Luke Skywalker. I wonder if they would let him wear 75, or if he would even want. One thing is certain, nothing would energize the Raider Nation like another Long.
9. Chicago Bears-Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
My apologies go out to Brian Brohm and the entire Brohm family. Not only did Petrinos leaving kill your payday, but you will now become the latest first round quarterback bust by being drafted by the Bears. I've said it before, the Bears only draft defensive players well in the first round. Almost ever single offensive player taken in the first round has been a bust for the Bears.
10. Philadelphia Eagles-DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
I don't think the Eagles will get the kind of playmaker at the wide receiver position they need by drafting Jackson, but he will take over the return game and should energize special teams like Hester does for the Bears. I think the Eagles need a lot of help during this draft, but they may have to wait until next year's draft to be able to fully restocked.
11. Cincinnati Bengals-Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
If the Bengals take any player on the offensive side of the ball I will seriously laugh at them. It should be defense, defense, defense. Ellis is going to be a great player in this league, much along the same lines as Tommie Harris for Chicago. Keith Rivers could be another option, and maybe even Kenny Phillips.
12. Carolina Panthers-James Hardy, WR, Indiana
I know what you're thinking, why would the Panthers be taking another wide receiver? I agree, they shouldn't go in this direction. They should trade with the Patriots and go after the Road Warrior, but everything I seem to read lately says the Panthers think that the receivers are the problem, not the lack of quarterback.
13. Houston Texans-Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
Here is another team whose prayers are answered by the player they want falling all the way to them at the thirteen slot. Phillips upgrades a defense that is already on their way to becoming one of the elite groups in the NFL. A corner could be a possibility here, but safety is the only one they haven't drafted in the first round the last few years.
14. Arizona Cardinals-Sam Baker, OT, USC
Russ Grimm, if he's still there, and Ken Wisenhunt would be licking their chops for Sam Baker to fall to them at fourteen. If you saw Kurt Warner physically abused like he was a senior citizen on Law and Order:SVU this past weekend you understand their need for a dominate offensive lineman, and Baker would be the highest rated at this point.
15. Detroit Lions-Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
The Lions need to have a secondary if they plan on being one of the elite teams in the NFC, hell in the NFC North. They are pretty solid almost everywhere else on the defense, but their secondary is killing the rest of the squad. Jenkins has the tools to be a outstanding corner in the Tampa 2, which I believe is what the Lions run under Marinelli.
16. Washington Redskins-Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
They continue tradition and get a player from the U. Might as well calls this the Sean Taylor tribute pick, thankfully this is a position they desperately need help in. To say they need some help in creating a pass rush, I think Trent Edwards is still having a tea party stemming from that game.
17. New Orleans Saints-Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
The fact that Keith Rivers could fall all the way to number 17 should be a crime punishable in every state and the territories. This man is going to be a star in the NFL, much like Demeco Ryans is becoming. He has the leadership that is missing on that Saints defense. He would immediately change the attitude and style of play down there in the Big Easy.
18. Denver Broncos-Reggie Smith, CB, Oklahoma
As I have stated previously, the Broncos have had a big hole opposite Champ Bailey. Dre Bly is a nice corner, but he's getting on in years and isn't as dominate as he once was. Reggie Smith could benefit from the knowledge he would gleam from Bly and Bailey and begin to give the Broncos a secure secondary.
19. Tennessee Titans-Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
Well whatcha know, Sweed feel this time all the way into Vince Young's lap. To say that Vince Young doesn't have many weapons, remember when the Saints had a beer truck driver? Yeah well the Titans have been calling local pizza delivery places and giving the fastest folks auditions to be their number one receiver.
20. Minnesota Vikings-Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio St
In a case of the rich just getting richer, the Vikings land (in my opinion) the second best defensive end in this draft. His demeanor and playmaking ability turns this defense into one of the best in the NFL, definitely better then rivals Chicago if they keep playing the way they're playing. This strong defense gives Purple Jesus the time to win games on the ground.
21. Buffalo Bills-Dan Connor, OLB, Penn St
That would be an interesting situation, Dan Connor is reunited with Poz in the Bills linebacking corps. This Bills defense has taken leaps and bounds this season, and now you add Dan Connor? Does anyone else get the feeling that we are seeing the formation of a team from the early 90s? If Trent Edwards turns into Jim Kelly, dear god, New England may have competition in the East.
22. Dallas Cowboys (via Browns)-Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt
I thought about what the Cowboys need right off the bat, a lineman, a wide receiver and a safety. Well, there will be a wide receiver further down at the end of the first round, and it's too high for Marcus Griffin, so I went with the left tackle from Pitt. After all they've put a lot of money into Tony Romo, they probably want that backside of his protected.
23. San Diego Chargers-Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
The Chargers are going to have an easy first day of the draft, as this is their sole selection day one. Kentwan Balmer is a tweener, he can likely play defensive tackle or defensive end. Since the Chargers have needs at both areas, he is the most logical choice. They can't move up, least I don't think they have anything they'd give up to move up, but they very well could move back.
24. Jacksonville Jaguars-Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan
They've been on the great wide receiver search for a very long time, and Manningham COULD be the solution. He definitely has all the tools, athletic ability and size, the one down side on Manningham in my opinion is I wonder about his character. He seems to be a prima donna at Michigan, giving me glimpses of Randy Moss, the Raiders years.
25. New York Giants-Tracy Porter, CB, Indiana
The Giants realize they play the Cowboys twice a year, and with the emergence of Tony Romo, know they need to defend against the pass. Aaron Ross seems to be playing well for the Giants, so I expect them to take a corner to play opposite of Ross and fight the Cowboys air attack. They could go for Cherilus, but I think they're quicker to go after a corner.
26. Pittsburgh Steelers-Marcus Griffin, S, Texas
We saw what happened to the Steelers this past weekend when Troy was out. To say Tom Brady and the Patriots made fools out of them may be a little harsh, but I don't know if you'd call me a liar. Griffin is likely the second best safety in the draft, though maybe not a first round talent, the Steelers know they need the best safety on the board.
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
To say I think Aqib Talib is going to be a very solid corner in this lead may be me underestimating what I think he could actually do in this league, especially in Tampa Bay and their Tampa 2. I think Talib may actually end up the best corner from this draft, but he comes from Kansas so I know many will question just how good he actually is.
28. Seattle Seahawks-Jonathon Stewart, RB, Oregon
We have seen Shaun Alexander age as the season has gone on, and where Maurice Morris is a nice change of pace back, he's not the starter the Seahawks need. Jonathon Stewart is a local kid in a sense, and a damn hard runner. I think he would fit in perfectly with this Seahawk team, in a scary good kind of way.
29. Green Bay Packers-Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
I do think Ryan Grant may end up being the starter, I can't help but think that the Packers may not be completely sold on him as of yet. Bringing in Mendenhall, who can make phenomenal plays, just makes too much sense to me. It also takes some pressure off of Brett Farve, which all signs are pointing to him coming back this year.
30. San Francisco 49ers (via Colts)-Early Doucet, WR, LSU
I've made my opinion on LSU wide receivers known in the past, but if you missed that memo, they're solid possession receivers, but they don't exactly get me excited as a number one receiver. They're not going to be huge playmakers like Braylon Edwards, but you can rely on them to be solid receivers, a Reggie Wayne or Brandon Stokley if you will. Honestly, I see many number 2 receivers in this draft, I don't know if there is a number one.
31. Dallas Cowboys-Lavelle Hawkins, WR, Cal
With wide receivers dropping off the board, the Cowboys have to take Hawkins now. He is built exactly in the style the Cowboys would use him as, a speedy number three receiver who can make plays like Wes Welker when given the ball. He could surprise everyone and turn into a great Marvin Harrison type, but not while TO is still in Dallas demanding the ball.
32. New England Patriots-Forefit
Yeah yeah spygate, all this does is help them save cap room. Hell I think taking the pick away might help the Patriots more then it hurts them.

ROUND 2
1. Miami Dolphins-Dre Moore, DT, Maryland
2. Atlanta Falcons-Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
3. San Francisco 49ers-Alex Mack, C, Cal
4. St Louis Rams-DeJuan Tribble, CB, Boston College
5. New York Jets-Vince Hall, ILB, Virginia Tech
6. Baltimore Ravens-Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
7. Kansas City Chiefs-Barry Richardson, OT, Clemson
8. Oakland Raiders-DJ Hall, WR, Alabama
9. Chicago Bears-Michael Hamlin, S, Clemson
10. Philadelphia Eagles-Jamie Silva, S, Boston College
11. Cincinnati Bengals-Erin Henderson, OLB, Maryland
12. Carolina Panthers-Dennis Dixon, QB, Oregon
13. Atlanta Falcons (via Texans)-Red Bryant, DT, Texas A&M
14. Arizona Cardinals-Steve Slaton, RB, West Virginia
15. Detroit Lions-Fred Davis, TE, USC
16. Washington Redskins-Marcus Monk, WR, Arkansas
17. New Orleans Saints-Travis Beckum, TE, Wisconsin
18. Denver Broncos-Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn
19. Tennessee Titans-Jack Ikegwuonu, CB, Wisconsin
20. Minnesota Vikings-Tony Hills, OT, Texas
21. Buffalo Bills-Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa
22. Cleveland Browns-Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
23. Miami Dolphins (via Chargers)-Derek Harvey, DE, Florida
24. Jacksonville Jaguars-Ali Highsmith, OLB, LSU
25. New York Giants-Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt
26. Pittsburgh Steelers-Roy Schuening, G, Oregon
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Shawn Crabble, OLB, Michigan
28. Seattle Seahawks-John Carlson, TE, Notre Dame
29. Green Bay Packers-Shannon Tevaga, G, UCLA
30. Indianapolis Colts-Kirk Barton, OT, Ohio St
31. Dallas Cowboys-Quintin Demps, S, UTEP
32. New England Patriots-Josh Barrett, S, Arizona St

ROUND 3
1. Miami Dolphins-Frank Okam, DT, Texas
2. Atlanta Falcons-Phillip Wheeler, ILB, Georgia Tech
3. San Francisco 49ers-Kevin Ellison, S, USC
4. St Louis Rams-Jonathon Godd, ILB, Vanderbilt
5. New York Jets-Adarius Bowman, WR, Oklahoma St
6. Buffalo Bills (via Ravens)-Steve Justice, C, Wake Forest
7. Kansas City Chiefs-Cody Wallace, C, Texas A&M
8. New England Patriots (via Raiders)-Chris Ellis, DE, Virginia Tech
9. Chicago Bears-Mike McGlynn, OT, Pitt
10. Philadelphia Eagles-Heath Benedict, OT, Newberry
11. Cincinnati Bengals-Craig Steltz, S, LSU
12. Carolina Panthers-Chris Harrington, DE, Texas A&M
13. Houston Texans-Earl Bennett, WR, Vanderbilt
14. Arizona Cardinals-Drew Radovich, G, USC
15. Detroit Lions-Adam Kraus, G, Michigan
16. Washington Redskins-Tom Zbikowski, S, Notre Dame
17. New Orleans Saints-Marcus Harrison, DT, Arkansas
18. Minnesota Vikings (via Broncos)-Donnie Avery, WR, Houston
19. Tennessee Titans-Trevor Laws, DT, Notre Dame
20. Minnesota Vikings-Joe Flacco, QB, Delaware
21. Buffalo Bills-John Greco, OT, Toledo
22. Cleveland Browns-Terrance Taylor, DT, Michigan
23. Chicago Bears(via Chargers)-Wesley Woodard, OLB, Kentucky
24. Jacksonville Jaguars-Erik Ainge, QB, Tennessee
25. New York Giants-Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers
26. Pittsburgh Steelers-Justin King, CB, Penn St
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Jaison Williams, WR, Oregon
28. Seattle Seahawks-Adam Spieker, C, Missouri
29. Green Bay Packers-Jonathan Hefney, S, Tennessee
30. Indianapolis Colts-Erik Young, G, Tennessee
31. Dallas Cowboys-Ben Moffitt, ILB, South Florida
32. New England Patriots-Terrell Thomas, CB, USC
