In recent months we have heard how DC was planning on a big screen Justice League movie fairly soon. This of course was going to be absolute dog shit since they were going to recast Batman and Superman for this. Then the Writer's Strike began and the movie has fallen to the wayside, thank god.
Marvel however is not owned by Warner Brothers and have begun making their own movies, which we really see for the first time this year with Punisher: War Zone, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Well being their own entity Marvel have made their own deal with the writers and is now continuing production on the upcoming Captain America, Thor, Ant Man and of course Marvel's version of the JLA The Avengers.
Marvel is doing it right though, it's not recasting parts to fit that movie. Rumor on the street is that the folks you see playing Iron Man and Hulk will be playing their respective roles in the Avengers film. This means Samuel Bad Ass Mother Fucker L Jackson as Col. Nick Fury in almost every single Marvel film.
I personally can't wait for the Avengers movie, but can't wait even more so for when Marvel once again owns the X-Men franchise rights, maybe then they will let the right man for the job do the movie, Joss Whedon.
