FULL NFL Mock Draft All 7 Rounds

Ok, after eight straight days (working days at least) of modifying this I am finally done and present to you my final mock draft this year. All seven rounds, with a few trade predictions. I almost predict the Vikings/Chiefs trade perfectly at one point before it happen, I only had a difference in the the sixth round picks, and the same goes for the Cowboys/Titans deal.

I'll bring you stats on Monday of my average, if I got the right round and team, and see who I left off that were drafted and vice versa. Not sure how this will be responded to, but I look forward to seeing everyone's response. I didn't explain myself because honestly I've been working on this enough, I didn't need more work. You've all read my thoughts before so no need to repeat myself.

2008 NFL Mock Draft Rounds 1-3 April 16th, 2008

The first day back after getting married and I've already able to knock out a brand new draft, that's awesome. There may be a few surprises, a few head scratchers, but is you want to ask why please do and I'll try to give the best explanation I possible can.

Next week of course is the draft and around this time I will unleash my final draft, maybe even a full draft and see how accurate I can make it. This draft also will include what trades I think may happen, so if it looks a bit off then, that's why.

ROUND 1.
1. Miami Dolphins- Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Thankfully folks have finally let the talk about Matt Ryan going number one die down, it was ridiculous to begin with and I have a tough time putting him in the top ten anyways. Reports are coming out that the Dolphins have begun talking contract with Jake Long. A bit shocking, but when you’re offense has bigger needs at this point then your defense it doesn’t shock me all that much. Long will walk in and become their best offensive lineman at the start of training camp. Imagine how good Ronnie Brown will be when he actually has blockers and isn’t producing all the yards by himself, which if watched last season, is what he did.
2. St Louis Rams- Chris Long, DE, Virginia
His father played for the LA Raiders, now his son will be drafted by the team that were neighbors, the Rams. It was a toss up, if Jake Long was here he’d be taken but since he isn’t the Rams have more of a need for a defensive end right now the defensive tackle. Leonard Little and James Hall are their two starters, you telling me Long won’t come right in and cause havoc in a very weak NFC West?
3. Atlanta Falcons-Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
This will shock some of you, but look at who the new coach is. The Jaguars built their stellar defense around their defensive linemen and their defensive tackles in particular. You also need a leader who is solid, upright, and is a great representative for your organization. Glenn Dorsey is easily one of the best roles models in this draft, which is something the Falcons need after Vick, hall and letting Warrick Dunn go.
4. Oakland Raiders- Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
I know, all the talk is about Darren McFadden being the man in Oakland, but remember they have four running backs already. Note to Phil Savage, trade something to Oakland and get Michael Bush, this kid will be a star if he stays healthy and the perfect replacement for Jamaal Lewis after this year. Now you’re wondering, why not Vernon Gholston then? Their starting defensive tackles are Gerrard Warren and Terrell Sands, you tell me why the go with the Trojan instead of the Buckeye.
5. Kansas City Chiefs-Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Yes, I think Herm Edwards takes a chance, I don't care if Brodie Croyle is his boy or not. The two options they have right now were far form stellar last season and the Chiefs faithful aren't exactly a patient bunch. The Chiefs will be a team everyone will be watching as what they do could start a flurry of trades trying to get up and I can see the Jets trading down to acquire picks.
6. New York Jets- Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
Leon Washington and Thomas Jones are nice backs, but do you honestly think the Jets and Mangini are going to let Darren McFadden slip to the Patriots? If they don’t take him themselves, they’ll sell the spot to the Cowboys who will gobble him up like a fat kid with a cupcake. They will not allow McFadden to go to the Patriots, even if they fans boo the selection, which they will no matter who it is.
7. New England Patriots (via 49ers)- Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio State
The Patriots lost both starting corners in free agency so the drafting a corner seems like the smartest move, but look what I said above. They take the best player available and at this time the best player available is Vernon Gholston. There are a good number of corners in this draft who can be very good players, so they don't need to pay that high corner money at this point in the draft, which the Patriots are also very wary to do. Gholston is a tweener between defensive end and outside linebacker which fits their style of play perfectly.
8. Baltimore Ravens-Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy State
I'm not sure there will be a run on the corners in the first round as many else do. I think you'll see that tackle run, but not completely sold on corners, that's a lot of money to sink into a player. Ozzie Newsome is a part of those GMs though who take the best player available, most of the time, Kyle Boller was far from the best. Give McKelvin a year to adjust to this higher level of playing and in two years he'll be one on one with Braylon Edwards.
9. Cincinnati Bengals-Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
Defense, defense, defense, this should be the mantra of the Bengals' draft. I think Rivers will fit into their defense very well, specially with their adjustment to the 3-4 coming on. He's also an upstanding citizen, which is something else they need to look for when drafting. Some think they may go after a wide receiver here as well with the departure of Chris Henry, but outscoring your opponents doesn’t work when you can’t stop them from scoring.
10. New Orleans Saints-Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson
If the Saints somehow are able to land Glenn Dorsey watch New Orleans go nuts for the LSU Tiger. I wouldn't put it past the Saints trading up to try to land Glenn Dorsey which would continue to grab huge support from the community as they are coming down from the Reggie Bush excitement. Drafting Merling though allows them to move one of the bigger d-ends they have right now to tackle as their defensive line is still a big weakness for the Saints.
11. Buffalo Bills- Dominique Rogers-Cromartie, CB, Tennessee State
They've had one of the best draft records the last three or so years and this very well may be the year we see Buffalo really start to compete for that wild card spot. I say wildcard because as long as New England has Tom Brady I don't see any team in the AFC East over taking them. I'm a big fan of Talib and I think he fits in beautifully with mentality they're building in Buffalo, but the raw athletic potential that Rogers-Cromartie possesses may be too good to pass up. Talib also is a bit susceptible to giving up the long bomb, which New England would take advantage of at every change.
12. Denver Broncos-Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State
Their offensive line is old, inexperienced and in shambles. This isn't good when your offense is on the shoulders of a third year quarterback. They need to protect Jay Cutler, and Ryan Clady I think is the best fit for their zone blocking scheme. He’s the most athletic lineman in the draft, so for a team that does zone blocking and plenty of pulling of their linemen this just makes the most sense.
13. Carolina Panthers- Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
I know that many of you are looking at me right now like…huh?! Hear me out, Carolina loves drafting local kids and Balmer is the next best defensive tackle on the board. They have zero inside presence right now, and that isn’t helping Julius Peppers at all. Their defensive tackle need to be able to occupy many blockers at once, and they weren’t able to do this last year. Now I can see them moving down to make this pick, but he won’t be there in the second round so it has to be made in the first.
14. Chicago Bears-Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
I've been preaching that the Bears will take a tackle for a very long time, but today this hit me. Benson hasn't worked out that well, and why not take the best Illinois player to enter the draft in decades? This kid is PHE-NOMINAL and I think is the best running back in the draft and will be a legitimate superstar, the kind Reggie Bush was supposed to be. It also works fan wise, taking the local college prospect is almost always looked at positively by the fans.
15. Detroit Lions- Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt
They have stated that this year they are focusing on the running game, they must establish the running game. Well, one has to block to establish the running game. If Mendenhall is available you'll see a path of fire where the Lions ran up to hand his card in, but with him gone they have to get the best lineman available. Otah is also a great left tackle, which may actually give Jon Kitna some time to actually throw the ball this year, instead of always being knocked on his ass.
16. Arizona Cardinals-Chris Williams, OT, Vandy
This is a big question mark for people, as they have a few big areas they could focus on in the first round. I went with the offensive tackle, help facilitate Edge running the ball and give some protection to Kurt Warner and Matt Leinart. Williams is a solid tackle who should make his share of pro bowls.
17. Minnesota Vikings-Derek Harvey, DE, Florida
I think the Vikings could go offensive tackle here as well, but for some reason I couldn't stop but picking Derek Harvey. They've almost been Lion-esque at times when it comes to drafting defensive ends in the first round and here it isn't much different. I think it gives them some speed at the end position that they're missing right now.
18. Houston Texans-Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
They will sit there, hoping and praying like good Texans, that Kenny Phillips land in their laps at number eighteen. They've been building that defense up to beat the Colts, putting this Miami General in charge of your air force is the next stop in toppling Peyton.
19. Philadelphia Eagles-DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
They have their pick of wide receivers, but I went with DeSean Jackson purely because of his return ability. He would take the load off of Westbrook, and we have seen over the last two years how return men are becoming more and more of a factor in the NFL, this just continues that trend.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
Their defense has been solid for years, almost a decade it seems, but with that comes age and it's time to start restock piling their shelves. I think Mike Jenkins is the type of player Jon Gruden adores. I think he has untapped physical potential, he could be the most athletic player in this draft, and could be a huge steal at 20. He has the potential to be a damn good shut down corner and the fact that he’s a bit of local kid also helps the team. He may turn out to be the best corner of this draft.
21. Washington Redskins-Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
Pass rush is what they need most of all, but at 21 the real big name defensive ends are gone. Jason Campbell needs that tall wide receiver who can go up and snatch a pass if he's going to become one of those elite quarterbacks in the NFC. Kelly gives him that option, and moves Randal-El back to the slot, where he plays his best.
22. Dallas Cowboys (via Browns)-Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas
Step one, protect Tony Romo. At least, that's what it should be. Jerry Jones though is getting older and a bit more reminiscant about his past. He also hasn't seen Arkansas players this good come into the NFL since maybe the 70s. I believe he is determined to take one of those Arkansas running backs and make him a star. He doesn't want to risk losing Felix Jones, he takes him with their first of two.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers-Quentin Groves, DE/OLB, Auburn
They lost Alan Faneca, so taking Albert with their first round pick seems like a no-brainer, but rumor is circling that the Steelers are infatuated with Quentin Groves. One can see why, he is a dynamic player with great physical prowess and fits well into their defensive system. They can wait until the second round to grab a guard, Groves though won't be there.
24. Tennessee Titans-Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
I think there isn't a question that they will take at least two wide receivers in the draft, starting in the first round. Here though it depends on who the Eagles take, and they sort of get the left overs. I think Kelly and Sweed are so close together that it's a toss em. I do think over the long haul though Sweed is the better NFL caliber player as were Kelly may be a number 2 or slot receiver. It doesn't matter though, the Skins have selected Kelly and that allows the Titans to reunite Sweed and Young.
25. Seattle Seahawks-Fred Davis, TE, USC
They took care of some of their needs via free agency, especially at the running back position. Now they have Alexander, Morris, Duckett AND Julius Jones. I wouldn't be surprised if each of them got their own specific down and distance, maybe even 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th downs. So drafting a running back is no longer a first round priority. I still think they need a dynamic tight end for the west coast offense and Fred Davis to me is above and beyond the best tight end in the draft.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars- Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
Lawrence Jackson is an absolute steal for the Jaguars at 26. His mentality is one that fits in with a defense with many weapons. In college folks were more worried bout the linebackers and Ellis, which allowed him to do great things, the same thing will be true in a sense in Jacksonville. It also may give them the best defensive line in football, if they didn’t have that already.
27. San Diego Chargers-Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
They have this one draft pick until I think the fourth or fifth round, maybe even until 2009 the rate they're going. They desperately need another offensive tackle to book end their offensive line, protect the trash talker and LT. To me, this is the only kind of pick that makes sense with as few picks as they have in this draft.
28. Dallas Cowboys-Curtis Lofton, ILB, Oklahoma
Once again I think they will go away from what people expect them to do. Their inside linebackers don't exactly strike fear in the hearts of anyone, even with the Zach Thomas addition. Taking Curtis Lofton, a player much in the same mold of Zach Thomas, allows him to learn from the veteran and become the general that defense needs.
29. San Francisco 49ers (via Colts)- Branden Albert, G, Virginia
You have two young, well one young the other finally getting playing time, quarterbacks who need protection. You have a young running back who needs holes opened. You began reconstructing the offensive line last year with Joe Staley, I think they should work on solidifying the middle with the best guard in the draft. His addition with David Baas makes the Niners even nicer inside. I wouldn’t be shocked if they took a center in the third or fourth rounds either.
30. Green Bay Packers- Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
The Packers are an interesting team as they don't have that many weaknesses and needs in regards to the draft. Their corners are getting quiet old, especially in the NFL and it may be time to draft a corner in the first time, for the first time in a very long time. I'm more sold on Aqib Talib then other people are, but then I paid more attention to Kansas the majority of the season then others, who only watched them at the tail end of the season.
31. New York Giants-Erin Henderson, OLB, Maryland
They lost Mitchell in the offseason, who was all over the field during the Super Bowl. I can't say enough how much I enjoy watching Erin Henderson play. I think he would fit in very well with that Giants style of football. The other option I can see here is maybe going after Antoine Cason and getting another young corner, or reaching for a safety like Josh Barrett or Kevin Ellison.

A strong, physical corner that fits the Parcells system

Though the need for protection is high, they can’t stop anyone’s passing game right now

2008 NFL Mock Draft Rounds 1 & 2 April 7, 2008

Between designing and printing programs and place cards I've somehow managed to squeeze in a mock draft. Welcome to those who are just joining us from Hail Redskins. Now I do have some thoughts about what draft day trades we'll see and I predict that it will involve the Dolphins and Cowboys enabling the Cowboys to get the number one pick so Jerry Jones can support his alma mater and take Darren McFadden, but for this mock I just went with what we already have set.

ROUND 1.
1. Miami Dolphins-Chris Long, DE, Virginia
People still talk about the possibility of Matt Ryan going to the Dolphins, this is nonsense since in the last five years Bill Parcells used each first round draft pick he had on a defensive player. It is a combination of the media hyping the only first round quarterback in the draft and the media's obsession with the quarterback position. Chris Long is the son of Howie, a fuckin monster who plays the game the way it should be played. Parcells knew this was his choice the moment he took the Dolphins job.
2. St Louis Rams-Jake Long, OT, Michigan
In my mind the closest thing to a sure thing in this draft as Parcells taking Long is the Rams taking Long as well, Jake Long. I think every offensive lineman on that team spent time on the DL last year, and Orlando Pace isn't a spring chicken anymore. Their game plan is throwing the ball and having Stephen Jackson make other defenses look like fools. They still want to be the greatest show on turf, and to do that you have to be able to block. The only way they don't take Jake Long in my mind is if there is Chris Long available to them at this spot. Though, I wouldn't put it past them to trade down and grab some picks as well.
3. Atlanta Falcons-Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
This will shock some of you, but look at who the new coach is. The Jaguars built their stellar defense around their defensive linemen and their defensive tackles in particular. You also need a leader who is solid, upright, and is a great representative for your organization. Glenn Dorsey is easily one of the best roles models in this draft, which is something the Falcons need after Vick, hall and letting Warrick Dunn go.
4. Oakland Raiders-Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
They have three running backs on their team currently who have been starters during their careers. Why would they take Darren McFadden? Cause this is Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders. Nevermind that he already has bar brawls on his resume, no other offensive player has been hyped this year as much as McFadden and The Godfather loves big names.
5. Kansas City Chiefs-Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Yes, I think Herm Edwards takes a chance, I don't are if Brodie Croyle is his boy or not. The two options they have right now were far form stellar last season and the Chiefs faithful aren't exactly a patient bunch. The Chiefs will be a team everyone will be watching as what they do could start a flurry of trades trying to get up and I can see the Jets trading down to acquire picks.
6. New York Jets-Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio State
Gholston's stock continues to rise after having a better pro-day then his combine, and his combine was easily one of the five best. Mangenius learned from Hoodie that you take the best player available on the board, and that's Gholston by a yard. He can fit in nicely with their 3-4 system and is the type of worker that they have come to expect from Ohio State, see Nick Mangold.
7. New England Patriots (via 49ers)-Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
The Patriots lost both starting corners in free agency so the drafting a corner seems like the smartest move, but look what I said above. They take the best player available and at this time the best player available is Sedrick Ellis. There are a good number of corners in this draft who can be very good players, so they don't need to pay that high corner money at this point in the draft, which the Patriots are also very wary to do.
8. Baltimore Ravens-Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy State
I'm not sure there will be a run on the corners in the first round as many else do. I think you'll see that tackle run, but not completely sold on corners, that's a lot of money to sink into a player. Ozzie Newsome is a part of those GMs though who take the best player available, most of the time, Kyle Boller was far from the best. Give McKelvin a year to adjust to this higher level of playing and in two years he'll be one on one with Braylon Edwards.

I do think over the long haul though Sweed is the better NFL caliber player as were Kelly may be a number 2 or slot receiver. It doesn't matter though, the Skins have selected Kelly and that allows the Titans to reunite Sweed and Young.
25. Seattle Seahawks-Fred Davis, TE, USC
They took care of some of their needs via free agency, especially at the running back position. Now they have Alexander, Morris, Duckett AND Julius Jones. I wouldn't be surprised if each of them got their own specific down and distance, maybe even 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th downs. So drafting a running back is no longer a first round priority. I still think they need a dynamic tight end for the west coast offense and Fred Davis to me is above and beyond the best tight end in the draft.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
He may have the most upside of any defensive end, save for Gholston and Long, as he has the pure physical ability that may be unmatched in this draft. The problem is his motor, can Jack Del Rio motivate Campbell to play to the best of his ability? If he can, then they made a steal at 26.
27. San Diego Chargers-Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
They have this one draft pick until I think the fourth or fifth round, maybe even until 2009 the rate they're going. They desperately need another offensive tackle to book end their offensive line, protect the trash talker and LT. To me, this is the only kind of pick that makes sense with as few picks as they have in this draft.
28. Dallas Cowboys-Curtis Lofton, ILB, Oklahoma
Once again I think they will go away from what people expect them to do. Their inside linebackers don't exactly strike fear in the hearts of anyone, even with the Zach Thomas addition. Taking Curtis Lofton, a player much in the same mold of Zach Thomas, allows him to learn from the veteran and become the general that defense needs.
29. San Francisco 49ers (via Colts)-Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
With the addition of Issac Bruce wide receiver is no longer a given for the Niners in the first round. Their secondary though needs an immediate injection of youth and talent. They spent the farm on Clements, but that didn't result in the success they were expecting. Jenkins I believe is the type of player Mike Nolan cherishes and would probably end up starting over Walt Harris before the season began.
30. Green Bay Packers-Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech
The Packers are an interesting team as they don't have that many weaknesses and needs in regards to the draft. Their corners are getting quiet old, especially in the NFL and it may be time to draft a corner in the first time, for the first time in a very long time. I'm not as sold as Flowers as other people are, but he'll be serviceable and I honestly don't know who else they could take here.
31. New York Giants-Erin Henderson, OLB, Maryland
They lost Mitchell in the offseason, who was all over the field during the Super Bowl. I can't say enough how much I enjoy watching Erin Henderson play. I think he would fit in very well with that Giants style of football. The only other option I can see here is maybe going after Antoine Cason and getting another young corner, or reaching for a safety.

2008 NFL Mock Draft Rounds 1-5 Feb 7th...GONZO DAY

When you see Gonzo Day in the title you know I must have gotten bored from the usual mundane process of covering the NFL Draft prior to the Combine. So today, back by no demand what so ever, the what if trade scenarios are in play.

Today we have six trades, all according to the NFL Draft Trade Value Chart. They are as follows.

*The Dallas Cowboys trade the 22nd, 28th, and 93rd picks to the New England Patriots for the 7th, 127th, and 159th draft picks.

*The Minnesota Vikings trade the 17th, 74th, and 2009 4th round draft pick for the 11th pick held by the Buffalo Bills.

*The Seattle Seahawks trade the 25th, 56th, and 118th picks to the Atlanta Falcons for the 38th, 49th and 69th draft picks.

*The Buffalo Bills trade the 72nd and 73rd picks to the Chicago Bears for the 45th pick.

*The Houston Texans trade the 18th pick in the draft to the Miami Dolphins for the 33rd and 58th pick.

*And finally the New England Patriots trade the 28th pick to the Cleveland Browns for the 57th pick and the Browns 2009 2nd Round pick.

ROUND 1
1. Miami Dolphins-Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
There's been a lot of talk that the Dolphins will take Matt Ryan first, I don't believe that for a second. Bill Parcells and their new coach are defensive people and they know they have to face the number one offense in the NFL two times a year. Glenn Dorsey is either the best, or at least in the conversation, defensive tackles to come out in the last five years.
2. St Louis Rams-Jake Long, OT, Michigan
There has been just as much talk about the Rams taking Chris Long over Jake Long, this is nonsense. The Rams were devastated this year, not just because of their defense, but because I don't know if they had an offensive lineman who didn't spend time on the injured list.
3. Atlanta Falcons-Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
I've thought about Ryan, but to be honest they've been burned on first round quarterbacks for pretty much their entire franchise history. Dunn isn't getting any younger and needs a replacement. McFadden has the possibility to be something really special.
4. Oakland Raiders-Chris Long, DE, Virginia
Ah, the legacy pick, and perhaps one of the best fitting picks in this entire draft. Chris Long can only play for the Raiders, he won't look right on any other team. I do hope the Raiders win the toss or what have you that gives them this pick as Chris Long was destined since birth to be an Oakland Raider.
5. Kansas City Chiefs-Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
The Chiefs are a wildcard here at the fifth spot. I think teams may try dealing with them as the Chiefs SHOULD be looking for a starting tackle in the first round and after Jake Long any of the remaining four first round have so little difference between themselves. Matt Ryan may be too pleasing to pass up at this spot.
6. New York Jets-Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
The Jets are also a team that may or may not move down, it all depends (in my mind) if Darren McFadden is available or not. Ellis has been moving his stock up constantly these last few weeks, and I don't believe the combine will slow that movement at all.
7. Dallas Cowboys (via Patriots via Niners)-Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
The Cowboys will likely make a huge move to the top of the draft to get the best safety available. Phillips is a game changer, who will likely be just as good as previous Miami safeties, if not better. Most believe the Cowboys weakest area is their secondary, this goes after that weakness directly.
8. Baltimore Ravens-Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
The Ravens are the team that take the chance on Brian Brohm. I could also see them going after Curtis Lofton or Keith Rivers, as I think Ozzie is smart enough not to take Brohm, but he may be overruled again by the head coach and owner as to where to go with their first selection.
9. Cincinnati Bengals-Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
I thought about which direction the Bengals would go, defensive tackle or linebacker. Either way, they'd be drafting another USC Trojan. I went with Keith Rivers since he is probably the best outside linebacker in the draft, Sedrick Ellis can't say the same.
10. New Orleans Saints-Curtis Lofton, ILB, Oklahoma
The Saints need defense in the worst way, especially in the middle and we're talking every level of defense too. Some could argue that Lofton is better then Dan Connor, and I think those opinions will solidify after the Senior Bowl and Combine. Until then, I think the Saints will go after the linebacker before the defensive tackle.
11. Minnesota Vikings (via Bills)-Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State
Vernon Gholston fits that new Viking defensive mentality to a t. They've tried drafting defensive ends for years now with little success, this one I think has the chance to be a star in the NFL. He is the type of player who can take over games when he's motivated. The question then is, how does one motivate him?
12. Denver Broncos-Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State
Protect Jay Cutler, that should be the mantra during the first round. After that they need some defenders to stop other teams. Clady likely should have stayed in school one more year, but he should fit into the Broncos style of zone blocking very very well.
13. Carolina Panthers-Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
I'm back and forth on whether the Panthers will take a first round quarterback. If Brohm falls this far to them, I think they won't waste any time taking this pick. I don't know how Brohm will fair as a professional, but I do think he has the right mental makeup to succeed. I however would jump at the chance to select Lawrence Jackson, especially if you don't know if you're gonna keep Peppers next year.
14. Chicago Bears-Jeff Otah, OT, Vanderbilt
Here are a few words describing the Bears offensive line as told by Bear fans. Old, decrypted, shitty, replaceable. Jeff Otah is a damn fine tackle, and one that will be reliable for the next decade baring injury. I think he could fit that Bears mentality very well and should be their pick without thought, then again almost every pick should be an offensive lineman for the Bears.
15. Detroit Lions-Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
Talib has the ability to come in and be their best corner since the days of Night Train Lane. He is a special kind of talent at the corner position. Not one that will wow you with his physical ability, but watch his game tapes, this kind breaks on the ball like no one in years.
16. Arizona Cardinals-Sam Baker, OT, USC
Wisenhunt and Grimm will be drooling if Sam Baker falls this far in the draft. Being offensive line guys, they know they have to protect their apparently very fragile quarterbacks. You also start to rebuild that offensive line that kept Leinart safe for all those years.
17. Buffalo Bills (via Vikings)-Fred Davis, TE, USC
An absolute steal at the 17th pick, Davis is head and shoulders above every other tight end in this draft. Much like when SFC Winslow came out, Davis is the only real first rounder in my eyes. This gives them a dynamic tight end for whoever ends up as their quarterback.
18. Miami Dolphins (via Texans)-Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida
Bill Parcells has to role the dice and move back into the first round to get a great corner for that defense. They play New England twice a year, and Buffalo is coming on strong. That defense needs to become dominate, and by adding a local kid who is phe-nominal to it brings it back towards the Dolphins defense of old.
19. Philadelphia Eagles-DeSean Jackson, WR, Cal
Not the big receiver most think they need, but also brings that return ability to the team. Teams are beginning to realize how important it is to have a premier return man on your team, hell the Dolphins passed up a quarterback for one in last year's draft. This pick is made in the hopes it keeps Brian Westbrook healthier longer.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Erin Henderson, OLB, Maryland
With Jenkins taken, they need to find the heir apparent to Derrick Brooks. They have two choices here, Henderson or Ali Highsmith. I think Henderson is the more athletic of the two, cut in the mold of Lights-Out and could really excel in Tampa Bay's Tampa 2.
21. Washington Redskins-Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
I am not as sold on Campbell as others are. Yes, his physical and athletic attributes are amazing, but he did not dominate college like he should with those talents. I foresee a motor problem, another case of plenty of promise but none of the desire.
22. New England Patriots (via Cowboys via Browns)-Dan Connor, ILB, Penn State
Their linebacking corps has about the average age as the San Francisco Giants outfield last season. I know they're looking at Connor at the seventh slot, but if they can save money and get him at 22, like the Browns and Brady Quinn last year, then it should be a no-brainer.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers-Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
Well, it isn't the big name wide receiver that Big Ben wanted but it is a hell of a wide receiver that they can give him. I'm not sold as much as others are on how he will play in the NFL, but he has all the physical tools needed to succeed. It would allow Holmes to move to slot, where he'd be much more dangerous.
24. Tennessee Titans-Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
No matter what I do, how many times I change my talent order or who drafts who the Tennessee Titans always seem to end up with Limas Sweed. Perhaps it is my subconscious making me put Longhorn with Longhorn, but I don't know. I think it's a great selection and definitely will help Vince Young's progression as a quarterback.
25. Atlanta Falcons (via Seahawks)-Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolino
I'm another person who isn't sold on Balmer, I expect more production in college if you're going to be a first round draft pick. The Falcons though need a defensive tackle, and moving back into the first round so you have two prominent figures for your rebuilding franchise is a way to rejuvenate the fans.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-James Hardy, WR, Indiana
An absolute steal for the Jaguars at 26. If this many teams sleep on James Hardy it may end up being the biggest kicking oneself in the ass since teams passed up Randy Moss and Ladanian Tomlinson. Hardy is a one man Human Highlight Film, and the first real receiver Garrard will have as a starter.
27. San Diego Chargers-Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
The LT train appears to be slowing, and faith in their star player may be waining by his lack of playing in the big game. AJ Smith knows talent, he may be the best talent evaluator in the game today. Mendenhall I believe will be this year's Purple Jesus, and may make LT disposable.
28. Cleveland Browns (via Patriots vis Cowboys)-Red Bryant, DT, Texas A&M
The Browns need to work their way back into the first round, and this pick is low enough to do just that. Now Bryant and Sims have first round talent, but I think Bryant fits into the 3-4 defense better then Sims, which is why I have the Browns taking him instead.
29. San Francisco 49ers (via Colts)-Early Doucet, WR, LSU
Doucet may be ideally suited for the Mike Martz style of offense so perhaps this selection will help Say Hey sleep better at night. He may be no Torry Holt or Issac Bruce, he can be a Kevin Curtis who will get you first downs when you need them, a Wes Welker if you will.
30. Green Bay Packers-Jonathon Stewart, RB, Oregon
If the playoffs showed us anything it's that the Packers may not be and shouldn't be completely sold on Ryan Grant, starting running back. Stewart luckily doesn't have to change his wardrobe since he went to Oregon. He is going to be a damn solid running back in the NFL, a Corey Dillon type back.
31. New England Patriots-Forefit

32. new York Giants-Ali Highsmith, OLB, LSU
Well, this Giant team may not be as bad as we all thought it was, but certain areas need improvement, one of them being outside linebacker. They don't know if they'll be able to resign Mitchell, but that still leaves the other side as a possible place for someone like Highsmith, who would fit in well with this group of champions.

ROUND 2
1. Houston Texans(via Dolphins)-Reggie Smith, CB, Oklahoma
Another solid defensive player for a team that is going to be built around its defense.
2. St Louis Rams-Derek Harvey, DE, Florida
I'm not sold on Harvey, but the Rams need all the defensive line help they can get.
3. Oakland Raiders-Chris Williams, OT, Vandy
They've been looking for that tackle solution for years, he's at least a solid tackle.
4. Kansas City Chiefs-Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy St
Both of their starters are over the age of 30, time to get young, McKelvin shows real promise, though his competition is questionable.
5. New York Jets-Beau Bell, ILB, UNLV
This kid is gonna be a beast that no one sees coming.
6. Seattle Seahawks (via Falcons)-Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas
They move down, as they tend to do, and still get an a-mazing running back.
7. Baltimore Ravens-Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
Understand when I say he's very underrated I mean it with the utmost respect.
8. San Francisco 49ers-Jonathon Hefney, S, Tennessee
I'm not sold on Hefney, but he is the highest rated safety here.
9. New Orleans Saints-Pat Sims, DT, Auburn
Much like Bryant, he's definitely showing his stuff this week and proving that he deserves to be in the conversation of best defensive tackles in this draft.
10. Buffalo Bills-Terrell Thomas, CB, USC
Under appreciated, probably because he plays on a defense filled with talent.
11. Denver Broncos-Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan
I think he's a bit overrated, so it doesn't sadden me to have him go to Mile High.
12. Carolina Panthers-Joe Flacco, QB, Delaware
Taking a quaterback in the second round is safer for this team, they still have Jake D anyways.
13. Buffalo Bills (via Bears)-Xavier Adibi, OLB, Virginia Tech
I'm not a fan of Adibi as I think he may just get pushed around by superior linemen.
14. Detroit Lions-Anthony Collins, OT, Kansas
They have serious offensive line problems, Collins is a solid tackle who they can rely on, though he isn't a Joe Thomas by any stretch of the imagination.
15. Cincinnati Bengals-Dre Moore, DT, Maryland
A beast and menacing player who should play well next to their version of Umaga.
16. Minnesota Vikings-Josh Barrett, S, Arizona State
A beast of a player, he will destroy anyone who crosses his path.
17. Seattle Seahawks (via Falcons via Texans)-Mike Pollack, C, Arizona State
They need interior blockers in the worst way in Seattle, Pollack stepped out at the Senior Bowl.
18. Philadelphia Eagles-Kevin Ellison, S, USC
If the attitude stays with this Eagles defense, Ellison will fit right in.
19. Arizona Cardinals-Kevin Smith, RB, UCF
I'm not sold on Kevin Smith, but having Edge gives them the luxury to take a chance on Smith, it's always tough to judge highly productive college running backs, especially at a small school.
20. Washington Redskins-Tom Zbikowski, S, Notre Dame
The Redskins have to draft the Great White Hype, he may be the only safety who can take the pressure of taking Sean Taylor's spot in this draft.
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Michael Grant, CB, Arkansas
A tremendous talent, who can be a su-perb corner in the Tampa 2.
22. Pittsburgh Steelers-Chilo Rachal, G, USC
A fine replacement for Alan Faneca, one who has the tools to surpass him one day.
23. Tennessee Titans-Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech
We don't know yet whether or not Pacman will be back, better take no chances.
24. Atlanta Falcons (via Seahawks)-Chad Henne, QB, Michigan
They need a quarterback, but not a first rounder. Taking Henne in the second gives them some leeway of making a mistake.
25. New England Patriots (via Browns)-Darrell Robertson, OLB, Georgia Tech
This kid is going to be a star in the Patriots defense.
26. Houston Texans (via Dolphins via Chargers)-Jamaal Charles, RB, Texas
I don't know how long it would take before he was the most popular Texans player ever, but I don't think it would be that long.
27. Jacksonville Jaguars-Geno Hayes, OLB, Florida State
I like Hayes as a player but he's a bit undersized for my taste at outside linebacker.
28. Indianapolis Colts-Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn
He is a tweener between defensive end and outside linebacker, which serves him well in this defense.
29. Green Bay Packers-Robert Felton, G, Arkansas
A man who could reign havoc and create holes for Grant and Stewart.
30. Dallas Cowboys-Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia
Like other teams, the Cowboys have their money riding on Romo, gotta find a way to protect him from Little Midget and Cleveland Steamer.
31. New England Patriots-Tracy Porter, CB, Indiana
Do I really need to explain why they need to draft a new cornerback?
32. New York Giants-Ahtyba Rubin, DT, Iowa State
Three out of their four defensive linemen are a-rugula, Rubin would make their defensive line the best in the NFL.

ROUND 3
1. Miami Dolphins-Lavelle Hawkins, WR, Cal
Answer me this Batman, who does John Beck have to throw the ball to?
2. St Louis Rams-Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa
A good physical corner, something the Rams have needed since Dre Bly.
3. Kansas City Chiefs-Oniel Cousins, OT, UTEP
He really got noticed during Senior Bowl week, I believe the type of player Edwards likes.
4. New York Jets-Kennan Burton, WR, Kentucky
I know, a bit of a stretch but they need a receiver with size for a change.
5. Seattle Seahawks (via Falcons)-Adam Kraus, G, Michigan
The continued building of their interior line continues on into the draft.
6. New England Patriots (via Raiders)-Adrian Arrington, WR, Michigan
I think Arrington has a chance to be a star in this league, even more so with the Patriots.
7. San Francisco 49ers-Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma
Put him bookend, opposite last year's first round Staley, give Hill some protection.
8. Chicago Bears (via Bills via Ravens)-Chad Rinehart, G, Northern Iowa
The Bears, as has been said, need some youth on the offensive line.
9. Chicago Bears (via Bills)-Ezra Butler, OLB, Nevada
They need a replacement for Briggs, cause who knows if that wound will ever heal.
10. Minnesota Vikings (via Broncos)-Barry Richardson, OT, Clemson
I think he may end up being the most reliable offensive tackle in this draft.
11. Carolina Panthers-Craig Steltz, S, LSU
Their defense is on that cusp of being great, the need a general at the safety position.
12. Chicago Bears-Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky
This is about the spot they need to take a quarterback of the future. Give Kyle Orton a chance to run that team for a year, see how that works out.
13. Detroit Lions-Martellus Bennett, TE, Texas A&M
This depends on the type of offense the Lions go to, but they need a tight end.
14. Cincinnati Bengals-Marcus Griffin, S, Texas
It breaks my heart to see a Longhorn go to Cincinnati, but they need a dominate safety.
15. New Orleans Saints-Jermichael Finley, TE, Texas
You have to know that Drew Brees misses an athletic tight end to throw to.
16. Houston Texans-Erik Young, G, Tennessee
A great player with an even greater motor, a solid pick up for the Texans while they build that offensive line.
17. Philadelphia Eagles-Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson
Kearse isn't getting any younger and they need to put pressure on the NFC East quarterbacks.
18. Arizona Cardinals-Marcus Harrison, DT, Arkansas
They may possibly lose one of their defensive tackles in the offseason, besides they ALWAYS take a defensive tackle.
19. Buffalo Bills (via Vikings)-Donnie Avery, WR, Houston
The fastest man in the draft, let him run it out and whoever is the QB just bomb it.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Carl Nicks, OT, Nebraska
They've been looking for an offensive tackle it feels like for years now.
21. Washington Redskins-Earl Bennett, WR, Vanderbilt
A solid receiver, they're going to need one since some may be lost due to cap space.
22. Tennessee Titans-Trevor Laws, DT, Notre Dame
Call this the insurance policy if they don't retain Haynesworth.
23. Seattle Seahawks-Martin Rucker, TE, Missouri
We've talked before about the need for a solid tight end in the west coast system and I don't feel like repeating myself.
24. Cleveland Browns-Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech
Showed real promise during the season, knows how to get into the backfield and make tackles for loss.
25. Pittsburgh Steelers-Jamie Silva, S, Boston College
Troy-P is on the verge of becoming Troy Aikman and Steve Young, need to prepare his heir.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-Wesley Woodard, S, Kentucky
A kid who loves football, and it shows when he plays, would fit great with Jaguars.
27. Chicago Bears (via Chargers)-Jerome Simpson, WR, Coastal Carolina
I don't know if the Bears are going to be able to convince Berrian to stay in Chicago.
28. Green Bay Packers-Steve Justice, C, Wake Forest
One of my top five interior linemen of the draft, would be great fit for the Packers.
29. New England Patriots (via Cowboys)-Andre Fluellen , DT, Florida State
They have Wolfolk who is a superb player, but they sometimes go to two tackle sets.
30. Indianapolis Colts-Vince Hall, ILB, Virginia Tech
Not sold on him, but could do very well in the Colts style of defense.

Parcells pulls off the biggest steal in the history of the fourth round taking Ray Rice.
2. St Louis Rams-Josh Johnson, QB, San Diego
Late enough in the draft that it's worth taking a chance for Bulger's backup.
3. New York Jets-DeJuan Tribble, CB, Boston College
The AFC East is going to be real competitive soon, they need to stock up on corners.
4. Atlanta Falcons-Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan State
It may just be me, but their receiving corps is just missing something, but Thomas isn't it.
5. Oakland Raiders-Roy Schuening, G, Oregon State
Fits into their style of offense, and folks are actually starting to take notice of him now.
6. Kansas City Chiefs-Cody Wallace, C, Texas A&M
Work on their offensive line should sound like a skyscraper being built.
7. Baltimore Ravens-Bruce Davis, OLB, UCLA
They want to move certain folks around at linebacker, Davis is athletic enough to play anywhere.
8. San Francisco 49ers-Jacky Claude, G, Florida State
An underrated guard who needs to replace the retiring Larry Allen.
9. Denver Broncos-Justin King, CB, Penn State
If they can get him to produce he can help ease the missing of Williams.
10. Carolina Panthers-Curtis Gatewood, OLB, Vanderbilt
Everyone thinks they will draft a wide receiver in this draft, not sure why, but I think get a stellar outside linebacker is needed more.
11. Chicago Bears-Justin Forsett, RB, Cal
Benson may not be the answer, and Peterson isn't purple Jesus.
12. Detroit Lions-Steve Slaton, RB, West Virginia
They say they want to focus more on running the ball, problem is Kevin Jones is always hurt.
13. Cincinnati Bengals-Duane Brown, OT, Virginia Tech
Willie Anderson may still be solid, but he's no spring chicken.
14. New Orleans Saints-DJ Hall, WR, Alabama
Drew Brees needs weapons, one way or another. Hall gives him some speed at probably the slot position.
15. Buffalo Bills-Shannon Tevaga, G, UCLA
The best interior lineman on the board, something they need.
16. Philadelphia Eagles-Allen Patrick, RB, Oklahoma
Brian Westbrook isn't getting much younger, and their other picks haven't panned out.

Should be all over the field for the Cardinals, if he can adjust to the speed.

He's finally starting to get some recognition during Senior Bowl week.

An absolute steal in the fourth round, he has a chance to start right away for the Texans.
20. Washington Redskins-Spencer Larsen, ILB, Arizona
The last time I checked on the Skins, Fletcher wasn't exactly a rookie.
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii
A kid that will go right to Jon Gruden's heart, Gruden may give him a shot to succeed.
22. Atlanta Falcons (via Seahawks)-Chris Ellis, DE, Virginia Tech
Their interior line play was one of the reasons the Falcons constantly lost games.
23. Cleveland Browns-Shawn Crabble, OLB, Michigan
A local kid who dreams of playing for the Browns, hopefully his dreams will come true.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers-Mike Hart, RB, Michigan
You don't know if Parker will be 100% and Davenport isn't so young anymore.
25. Tennessee Titans-Jason Jones, DE, Eastern Michigan
Jeff Fisher has been known to find kids from smaller colleges and make them stars.
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-Jerod Mayo, ILB, Tennessee
Mayo at one point was ranked two by many, he hasn't hurt himself, but he hasn't helped himself either.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (via Dolphins)-Dorien Bryant, WR, Purdue
Dwayne Bowe really started to come on at the end of the season, but he needs help.
2. St Louis Rams-Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College
He began in the first round, after Senior Bowl week he's down to the fifth, a shame.
3. Atlanta Falcons-Trae Williams, CB, South Florida
A solid corner who should mesh with the secondary's personality well.
4. Denver Broncos (via Raiders)-Frank Okam, DT, Texas
His fall into the fifth round could motivate him to do great things.
5. Kansas City Chiefs-Chris Johnson, RB, East Carolina
I'm torn on Johnson, I think he could be a real stud running back in a year or two.
6. New York Jets-John David Booty, QB, USC
They have the two young kids, why not bring in a third for a real race.
7. San Francisco 49ers-Harry Douglas, WR, Louisville
Douglas should fit into the Martz offense, closest thing to the spread in the NFL.

They have time to allow Langford to adjust to the NFL level.
10. Buffalo Bills (via Bears)-Terrance Taylor, DT, Michigan
The Bills have so many picks, taking a defensive tackle who is used to cold weather works here.
11. Detroit Lions-Dennis Dixon, QB, Oregon
He could be a sleeper QB, or he could end up being the next Joshua Cribbs.
12. Cincinnati Bengals-Dustin Keller, TE, Purdue
People have been saying for years that the Bengals need a tight end.

Louisiana loves Jacob Hester, taking him is a great and wise PR move by the Saints.

An interesting player who can be a special teams hawk with his speed.

The great Cleveland Exodus attempt has been tried and it has failed.
16. Arizona Cardinals-Branden Albert, G, Virgina
Another offensive lineman for the lineman wizards that are Wiz and Grimm.
17. Minnesota Vikings-Erik Ainge, QB, Tennessee
Who knows if Jackson is the right person to be their QB, Ainge is far enough back to make Tashard feel safe.
18. Houston Texans-Tony Hills, OT, Texas
That offensive line is still not up to the standards they need to succeed.
19. Philadelphia Eagles-John Carlson, TE, Notre Dame
They may not be able to keep theirs, and the fans love Notre Dame.
20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Ben Moffitt, ILB, South Florida
Stay in the state and take the kid who can be all over the field for you.
21. New York Jets (via Redskins)-Kenny Iwebema, DE, Iowa
They play the Patriots twice a season, one can never have enough lineman to rush Tom Brady.
22. Cleveland Browns-Jordan Grimes, G, Purdue
That right guard position was pretty much the only weak spot on the offensive line last year.
23. Pittsburgh Steelers-Heath Benedict, OT, Newberry
An in state kid, they may not be able to keep Starks off the market.
24. Tennessee Titans-Dwight Lowery, CB, San Jose State
Much like the Dolphins and Jets playing the Patriots twice a year, the Titans have the Colts twice a year.
25. Seattle Seahawks-Paul Smith, QB, Tulsa
Hasselback isn't exactly getting older, and who really thinks Seneca Wallace is an NFL starter?
26. Jacksonville Jaguars-Jeremy Young, QB, Southern Miss
They could lose Quinn Gray in the market, gonna have to draft Garrard's backup.
27. San Diego Chargers-J Leman, ILB, Illinois
An inside linebacker who makes tackles, lots of tackles, and is all over the field.
28. Green Bay Packers-Titus Brown, OLB, Mississippi State
This is more for depth then anything, Brown can set himself apart with special team tackles.
29. Dallas Cowboys-Peyton Hillis, FB, Arkansas
If they plan on Marion Barber being their sole back, they need someone to lead block for him. Plus we all know by now Jerry Jones' ties to Arkansas
30. Indianapolis Colts-Kirk Elder, G, Texas A&M
A versatile player, and we've discussed the infirmary already haven't we?
31. Dallas Cowboys (via Patriots)-Joe Burnett, CB, UCF
I think the corners are more the problem then the safeties myself, so hey.
32. New York Giants-Matt Flynn, QB, LSU
Knows how to backup a superior quarterback, Fat Lorenz may go via the market.
