Intelligent Design?

Headline: Young Chimp beats college students...

No, not in any kind of physical confrontation, in a memory exercise of all things...

Japanese researchers pitted young chimps against human adults in two tests of short-term memory, and overall, the chimps won.

That challenges the belief of many people, including many scientists, that "humans are superior to chimpanzees in all cognitive functions," said researcher Tetsuro Matsuzawa of Kyoto University.

Really a fascinating study in a lot of ways. Gives some more headway in finding that "missing link" between the primate world and our own after all.

Kinda hoping the state of Kansas has Internet access though so that the state's school board can care to comment on how this relates with intelligent design after all. I mean, if Chimps have better cognitive skills then a human, then whomever the intelligent designer was may not intend for us to worship them anyway! Maybe its really a chimp in charge?

:)

Dews shall be struck down by a thunderbolt in 3....2....1....

EDIT: Shane reminded me that it is Kansas I mean to pick on, not Kentucky... Thanks Shane.

If you want Adam and Eve I want Cthulhu Mythos

Apparently just speaking against intelligent design in Texas will get you fired:
The state’s director of science curriculum has resigned after being accused of creating the appearance of bias against teaching intelligent design.

Comer was put on 30 days paid administrative leave shortly after she forwarded an e-mail in late October announcing a presentation being given by Barbara Forrest, author of “Inside Creationism’s Trojan Horse,” a book that says creationist politics are behind the movement to get intelligent design theory taught in public schools. Forrest was also a key witness in the Kitzmiller v. Dover case concerning the introduction of intelligent design in a Pennsylvania school district. Comer sent the e-mail to several individuals and a few online communities, saying, “FYI.”
So this lady was fired for announcing a presentation to her co-workers, one who apparently felt was not appropriate and got her fired. I think my favorite part of that post was the overlapping circles image from Saint Gasoline.

Folks do we really need to get into, again, why intelligent design has no business being taught in a SCIENCE class? There is ZERO evidence to support intelligent design, zero. Hell, intelligent design goes against the bible's own time table of the world only being about 10,000 years old. I'm sorry, freedom of religion does mean that you have the freedom to believe what you want. Some say it isn't a freedom from religion, but come on. The teaching of a religious theory in a science class in a public school to me constitutes an endorsement of religion by the government.

Without this entire Intelligent Design theory we wouldn't have the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I get that. But if you want to teach Intelligent Design, then include EVERY religious creation story out there. I want to hear how the Earth is actually the body of the giant Ymir, or how Zeus overcame his father and grew life on Earth, or how the Great Father of All spirits woke the Sun spirit and told her to wake the spirits on Earth.

Folks if you want Intelligent Design taught in a science class the ONLY way to allow it is to include each and every creation mythos known to man. Oh wait, that would take an entire school year, I guess it's time for a new elective.

Weds Wrap Around

He may not win, but Senator Chris Dodd is definitely influencing this Presidential Race. We need more men like him in Congress who aren't afraid to say no to corporations.

Why can't you lose your Congressional seat when you spout such idiotic nonsense? I wonder how he would feel if he was swept off to Egypt by mistake.

Dubya visited National Defense University and ran off at the mouth how torture has prevented "terrorist attacks". Don't let this dumbass watch Star Wars, he'll torture George Lucas to know where the Death Star is.

You got to love Christians' fall back plan, always claim you're being persecuted to deflect any real argument. The difference between various science theories and "Intelligent Design" is that scientific theories actually have some evidence, not just some book.

Am I the only one who misses the days when fighting to restore Fourth Amendment rights was not considered traitorous by some? I mean really, giving us back our Constitutional rights helps Osama is the best argument you can come up with? Get bent.

Grady Jackson is now a free agent and some fans are already clamoring to get him on their team. Yes, if the Browns are to be competitive this year we need a nose guard the likes of Jackson to stop the run game.

Finally, we end with Straight Cash Homey's random jersey of the day, Jose Canseco as a memember of....
