Have You Ever Danced with the Devil in the Pale Blue Night?
Apparently Jack Nicholson, the O'mutha fuckin G of the Dark Prince of Crime (other than Cesar Romero), warned Heath Ledger that the role of Joker is not as simple as it may seem. Now one would say "Jack, STFU". However, I would not. When Jack warns you of the mental exhaustion of playing a crazy person, you kinda need to heed it. Who knows "crazy and demonic" more than Jack? References such as One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest the Shining would indicate that he knows his stuff. Jacks response after learning of Ledgers death: "I told him so".
But can you blame Heath for taking "A dream role"? Hindsight would say walk away but when you see the trailer for Dark Knight, you know he put everything he had into being THE greatest Joker of all time. And perhaps he very well be. His death is truly is a shame though. But I dont need to go into details, the LSWTF contributors did a stand up job praising this young man. I do believe, if he in fact pulls off a Joker that would make Jack himself weep, then he could very well be the James Dean of our generation.
