Vermont debating pot decriminalization

Rejoice, disciples of Phish, for you may soon be able to smoke herb free from hassles from the Man.

Or something, whatever. The Vermont legislature has taken up a discussion of reforming its marijuana laws, specifically decriminalization. First, as a Vermonter, I must ask why we continue to live up to the stereotypes. Not all of us smoke weed, drive Subarus, or work on organic farms. Seriously, the stereotypes are killing me.

But, it is interesting to see words like "common sense" and "drug policy" being thrown around in the same sentence. Vermont, for its size, has a huge inmate population. Maybe decriminalizing pot will help. It's work a shot. I'm thinking taxing the sale of weed would go a long way to helping our current education budget and property tax woes.

So, for my question of the day, I'll pass along a concern I overheard at the gym last week. If your state were to decriminalize pot, would you be concerned about filthy hippies invading your state?

There is a problem with this, as states with medical marijuana have issues with the Feds as they have their own laws regarding marijuana and they feel that those laws supersede state law.

I grew up in the bay area........I didnt care about hippies then and could careless about them now.

I would much rather it be legal. One would think the level of drug related crimes would go down. Like I said, one would think.

The woman was a dream I had
Though rather hard to keep
for when my eyes were watching hers
They closed,
And I was still asleep.

For when my hand was holding hers
She whispered words and I awoke
And faintly bouncing around the room
The echo of whomever spoke
I awoke and faintly bouncing round the room
the echo of whomever spoke.

The place I saw was far beneath
The surface of the sea
My sight was poor
But I was sure
The sirens sang their songs for me
They dance above me as I sink
I see them through a crystal haze
And hear them bouncing round the room
the never ending coral maze

That time and once again I'm bouncing around the room.

I don't know anything about left coast hippies, but here in Vermont they are very preachy, judgmental, and often pricks. They're very often here to make some ideological statement about how life ought to be lived, so when someone else doesn't quite act as they see fit, they through a fit.

Damn you and your Phish...

...I listened to that song about an hour ago. I'm so ashamed.

Thanks Dews for the copy and paste version of "A" Phish song.

I can recite "Farmhouse" from memory if you prefer?

You mean you can "hum" along to it right?? Or is that a Phish song with actual words contained in it??

I've heard words in the studio albums. I don't think that the words exist live, which makes it debatable as to whether the words are official or not.

Vermont hippies do have one redeemed quality. They enjoy swimming around naked. That makes for some enjoyable summers.

Yeh, I had a pot smoking buddy in college who had every live Phish album ever, and ONLY played that. So if they have lyrics, they are new to me.

Nothing wrong with a nude hippy.....Well, depends on the amount of body hair though.

I just like Farmhouse because it actually is about Vermont, unlike the other songs that seem about... well... A journey?

Hell I dunno
