Vermont Catamounts Update

The Catamounts have continued their traditionally solid conference play in the America East. After getting off to a rough 1-2 start, the Cats have rebounded to improve their league record to 7-4. They are currently tied for second place in the America East with Hartford, behind the immensely talented University of Maryland, Baltimore County who is in the drivers seat at 9-2.

As good as sophomore combo forward Marqus Blakely was in the non-conference schedule, he has been even more impressive during league games. He is producing to the tune of 19.4 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocks per game. He is the odds on favorite to win the America East player of the year and has the ability to win games by himself with his athleticism and overall game.

The Cats have gotten healthy and have received some key contributions from seniors Kyle Cieplicki and Tim McCrory. Their strong play will be needed to gain momentum for the conference tournament.

A quick note on the recruiting front for the Catamounts, Garvey Young (committed to UVM for next year) just scored his 1700th point for Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda.

Im happy Vermont beat at least 1 CAA team, UNC-W.

The kid who had that monster dunk last night, who is he and what is his status?

North Bethesda = Rockville, and that kid is one spoiled piece of shit if he is from there...

I have extensive experience dealing with people from that area

The kid from Albany?

His name is Brian Lillis, he's a senior and a very good player. Will be a first team all-conference player and I'll be happy to see him graduate.

Also, Vermont hasn't played UNC-W yet. That is their Bracketbuster game. But, they did beat Towson at home this year so they do have a win against the CAA. Hopefully they can make it 2.

Gotcha, your right it was Towson. Hopefully you guys can beat UNC-W. They arent a bad squad!

UNC-W is a very good team and a pretty bad matchup for us. They have a lot of skilled height which is our biggest weakness. Blakely is our power forward and is a great athlete, but he's only 6'5" so he'll have a real hard time going against their 6'11" kid. What I love about the Bracketbuster is that we'll get UNC-W at home next year where we're going to be a top mid-major team in the entire country and that could be a great win for us if we can pull it off.

You'll have to beat them the way the CAA beats them. No mistake outside shooting.

Its doable, VCU has no height advantage against them at all and we beat em.
