Frantic Friday Truthiness

I actually watched about half of the Pistons/Celtics game last night and something definitely stood out to me. The Pistons are a very good TEAM. The Celtics may have the big three, but the Pistons have been here and they play well together. Rasheed Wallace couldn't miss a shot and the Celtics couldn't stop the constant pick with the Piston coming up from down low to hit a jumper. I've never been a big NBA guy, but I love the Pistons and Spurs. I loved the NBA growing up, but that was when they played fundamentally sound basketball not today's sloppy play. This is why I like the Pistons and Spurs, they play TEAM basketball. Well, it's Memorial Day weekend so naturally the news, yeah a bit slow.

I wonder, does this make John McPOW a flip flopper?

It's likely that the old age he worried about in 2000 has become what we see now. A man whose perception of the world is that of bizzaro world.

At least someone over in the mother country sees how we are reverting back to the 1950s. Death to commies!

I know that the wife is terrified that I have now seen this office desk. Though I think I'd rather have something more TNG for an office desk.

An interesting claim being thrown about about 9-11 by a man who isn't known for wild speculation. Some have thought this for a long time, most are nuts, but it will be interesting to see the circus on tv.

This kid is bloody genius and we should have him on our team, not America's hat. I don't care who, EPA, NASA, NSA, someone needs to sign this kid to a long term contract.

There may be some sort of deity after all. There are rumors that Obama and Hillary are holding formal withdrawl talks for Hillary so we can finally get the nonsense over and get this show on the road.

John McPOW is finally getting rid his dead weight from the campaign. You know lobbyists, racists, bigots, etc.

Billions are unaccounted for in Iraq. In other news water is wet and Kirk Gibson should die in a fiery train crash.

Is it too late to have Jim Webb run for President? Now THIS is a man who truly "supports the troops".

I don't agree that the Celtics are overrated, or that they don't play team basketball. I think Game 1 showed that they are capable of dominating Detroit, especially when they commit to making the extra pass and to exploiting match-ups.

I really don't think either team is going to shoot 49% again this series, and I think that Boston has a better chance of winning in what is now a 5-game series.

Personally I think that the Kirk Gibson home run is one of the top ten all-time greatest sports moments. I remember watching it live. You really have to let the hate go Jack...just let it go.

The Celtics don't play defense very well, period. They didn't know how to defend against a simple pick and roll. If Ray Allen doesn't get hot, that game would have gotten ugly fast.

Kirk Gibson needs to die, along with John Elway...hmmm...two bastards one stone...how to make it happen.

And Jeffrey Maier (I know where you live!)!

Also, on the 9/11 thing, the first reports we got at the Senate (before we were evacuated I might add), was that it was a missle strike on the Pentagon. Won't ever forget that.

Of course, we also heard the Mall was on fire, there was a van bomb outside the State Dept, half the White House had been destroyed, and that there was another plane coming directly for the capitol (kinda true, but at that point that plane was already in a field in Penn).

I dont think the Celtics are over-rated at all. Though, I do believe they lack the continuity that the Pistons have and feel thats a huge disadvantage.

Hell has a special place for Kirk Gibson once he dies, and its called a whales vagina. How bout that Jimbo??!!

Wait, I'm sorry, you're talking about this year's Celtics, right? I just want to make sure you and I are on the same page. Cause this year's Celtics have been one of the best defensive teams throughout the regular season and into the playoffs.

Nobody talks about last years Celtics. Hell, last years Celtics wont talk about last year. What a bad bad team!

Dews said...

Not to compare them to another invincible "regular season" team in the New England area, but they kinda have to win it all to really wrap up that great reputation right?

And for the record, Jack- Greatest desk EVER! I wish you had that on your wedding registry

I wouldnt say the Celtics were invincilbe. Hell, the Wizards beat em 3 out of 4 times in the regular season.

They are problably the more exciting team to watch. Kevin Garnett is the 2nd best player in basketball (Obviously, Baron Davis is my fav)

They play in the Eastern Conference, the WNBA could have "good defense" in the Eastern Conference. They have better then most, but when they can't defend against a simple pick and roll, the defense isn't all that cracked up. I'm not saying they're not a good team, they're just not what I expected to see.

I've thought Kevin Garnett was the best player in basketball for years personally...

Even if they gave up half their team for him, it was a great deal.

SayHey Kid said...

Its alittle naive to think the Eastern Conference lacks in defense when Kevin Garnett wins the NBA Defensive Player award.

What hurts the Celtics is that they have no reputable Center, an inconsistent PG, and ZERO bench!

SayHey Kid said...

Dews- Other than Labron, Garnett is the best in basketball, and has been for many years.

Why is it we disagree on everything, but agree on everything involving basketball???

Jack Gonzo, MD said...

No, the Eastern Conference is limited period. When I look at talented teams, other then the Celtics and Pistons I don't see much.

Dewey, Cheatem, & Howe said...

I didn't watch last night's game, but they gave up 17 pts more thant he playoff average of 86. Detroit's averaging 88 PA/game. I'm not ready to say the Celts have no defense based upon a single game.

Also, Boston's bench scored 8 points last night. That was the problem. It was a let-down game after winning game 7 against Cleveland and then taking it to Detroit in game 1.

The Celtics do play in the eastern conference. But did you forget ther 25-5 record against the west? Or the fact that Boston beat San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas in back to back to back games IN Texas? Or the fact that the Celtics didn't lose a single game vs the Lakers?

SayHey Kid said...

Thats because the Eastern Conference gives up all of their talent to West Coast for crap.

Im not going to give up on the Celtics just yet. They do need to win on the road though. But if anyone can beat the Lakers, it would be Detroit or Boston and lets face it, thats all we care about!! To hell with LA!
