The Notorious B.u.M.

Living in DC for many years we have grown accustomed to the plight of the Homeless. In DC this was mainly caused by psychiatric hospital closing down, declaring all those inside sane, and releasing many poor souls onto the streets of our nation's capital. Hell, the majority of us here at LSWTF.com know the homeless outside of Kelly's Irish Times very well.

Houston though is another matter all in itself. Many are refugees from Katrina, and others are crack heads and other forms of vagabonds. Not all are as good natured as the DC homeless. Now I don't care what you call them be it homeless, street urchins, hobos, housing and cleanliness challenged, creepy or anything else, all my experiences never prepared me for the homeless man CityCat and I ran into this morning as we went to dinner.

We parked at Barnaby's Cafe to meet some of CityCat's fellow future lawyers who are trying to keep their sanity before the BAR test this week. As we exited a car we were met with a serenade of Hotel California. We were then told we just experienced the Notorious Bum, the you tube sensation. Originally from Portland, Oregon...allegedly...this of course caught my attention and I had to come home and look this poor bastard up.

I urge you now not to begin drinking anything as it is likely to impale itself onto your monitor/keyboard. For right now I bring to you straight from the Wendy's drive thru, the Notorious B.u.M.

F'n Awesome Jack...

Although, you have not experienced the "Boney Shuffle" from our resident homeless man in Barre VT, Eddie Boney.

Trust me, to be homeless in Central VT requires serious survivalist skills (it is kinda cold 11 months out of the year with snow and all), so he has designed a dance called the "Boney Shuffle" that keeps him warm, and can be viewed with a dollar donation to his "cause"...

It's actually a quarter not a dollar.. And he does many different shuffles other than the Boney Shuffle including special ones for our birthdays..

He always told us where he lived to which was kind of weird.. But yes Eddie Boney is a legend in the city of Barre, VT.. You can find him between the hours of 11-1 P.M on both Main St. and South Main St. walking to both Cumblerand Farms.. just fyi

I do still know most the crack-heads in the Eastern market area of DC though (since a former roommate actually turned into one, good times), but Glenn is the only name I can remember at the moment...

They were mostly former Vets though, which is depressing, but at the same time you get de-sensitized to anyone asking for money in south east DC...

I always thought it was called the Eddie Shuffle. I worked third shift at the south end Cumby's, and Eddie would come in and trade cans for cash so he could buy coffee late night. He's a trip for sure. I've seen him do the shuffle many times, always punctuated with a "Rock and Roll!"
