Obama, unstoppable?

Very interesting article today in Politico.com about how effective Obama's fundraising campaign has been carried out.

So effective in fact, that he has gathered more donors then all GOP candidates combined!
Obama on Monday e-mailed supporters to report he had 75,000 new donors in the third quarter, which ends Sunday. That figure nearly matches the entire Republican field’s donor base in the first six months of the year.
Not to be cynical about things, but my view on a persons ability to raise funds for their campaign, goes hand in hand with their ability to get elected. Lets face it, you raise money better then other people, you will win. That is how American Politics works.

So, if Obama can continue to raise more money then anyone in the Democratic primary, as well as the entire field of GOP wanna-be's, doesn't that just make his victory inevitable?

Shall we start making Vegas-style odds on this?

Senator Crazy

Now, I've never been a fan of Senator Brownback...

Nor will I ever for that matter. I get the feeling when he thinks back to "simpler times", he's thinking of cotton fields and cheap labor along with womenfolk "knowing their place".

Which is all great stuff to joke about of course, but this picture speaks volumes of how popular he apparently is in this current presidential race. Which thankfully, is not at all :)

Damn, don't even see his mommy there for support....

Fred Thompson, kinda smart....

I gotta say, Thompson has been getting some flack for announcing his candidacy the way he did and by going on Leno to reach out to the American people... But... Honestly I totally think he did this the right way.

His "camp's" reasoning is pretty solid:
Harris said, “it makes a lot of sense” for Thompson to appear on the Leno show instead of the GOP debate because the candidate will reach “everyday normal Americans who don’t live in the 202 area code.”
In all honesty, it was also nice to see his people admit that the Republican debates where pretty much useless in determining who is going to be winning the nod for the party anyway.

Lets face it, the American people get the democracy they deserve every election cycle, but they determine who they'll vote for regardless of how the candidate does in a debate (provided they don't sacrifice a live goat or something on stage).

It really has more to do with popularity and the polarizing issues of the day (or how well their people CAN polarize said issues for people, thus making it a "black or white" choice on one or two issues.), then it does with how well the candidate can illustrate his/her views on a multitude of topics. We don't have a long enough attention span to really listen to anything other then "Does he agree with Gay Marriage or Abortion?".

Sheep, yer all sheep and you get the "democracy" you deserve.

Fred Thompson

So, its official (or will be I guess).

Fred Thompson will be announcing his candidacy for President at 4:30pm Eastern Time (ie, the best).

No word yet on how this affects the District attorney's office in New York city...

This of course should not be confused with the Legendary (and yet deceased) Fred Tuttle.

Remember kids, "D" Is for Dinky!
