Breaking news indicates that Senator Patrick Leahy D-VT (King of Vermont) has decided to endorse Barack Obama for President...
I'm sure there will be some press conference at some point, so details will be updated as they come.
UPDATE: (From Politico)
People that know me, know I'm a huge fan of Senator Leahy for many reasons, so I can't really weigh in on this from a "Fair and Balanced" angle, but I will say that I am surprised in the timing of this announcement given that Vermont has really nothing to do with the process at the moment. Leahy's influence of course goes far FAR beyond the state he represents though, as he is a very powerful figure within the Senate as well as the party itself.
UPDATE:
"We need a president who can reintroduce America to the world – and actually
reintroduce America to ourselves," Leahy said in the conference call, saying
Obama carried the "hope" to end the war in Iraq and to bring "healthcare for
all."
He also compared the decision to support Obama to supporting John F. Kennedy for president.
Update: The Dude abides...

Is that a Phish quote in the tagline?
Maybe... :)
Thanks for perpetuating Vermont stereotypes you douche. Our people have been struggling and striving to make ourselves more mainstream, and you go ahead and do something like this.
Damn you. What's next? A civil union? Gonna open an antiques shop in Quechee? Flat bread pizza restaurant in Woodstock? Hmmm?
Damn you!

Word association time:

San Francisco = shitty sports teams
Better?
Yeh, 5 Superbowls makes for a shitty sports city. I couldnt agree more with ya.
How about Vermont.......And since the Pats are in Mass, how are those CFL Argaunats treating ya?
Actually, this is Alouettes country, thank you very much.
When was the last time the Niners were in the playoffs? Seems like ages ago.
Ken Griffey JR actually played in Vermont...
My apologies.
Niners were in 5 years ago......It wasnt that long ago.
And let's not forget the Frost Heaves, the ABA team. Or the Vermont Expos. Or the Vermont Mountaineers. We have some decent semi-pro and minor league sports going on. Just need a hockey team now.
Impressive....
We have the Elephant walks, er the Catamounts I mean :)
They're a consistently good hockey program in the NCAA...
Yeh, sbame their basketball team fell apart. We havent seen a Catamount Bball update in quite sometime
I know, I gotta get on Steve's ass about that.
Thankfully his excuse today is flying all over the place for a new job...
Nice
Guess that leaves on me reporting on college basketball, and the 12-4VCU Rams, first place in the CAA!!!
Yeah the basketball team is having a tough time this year without a "big man" to go to underneath. They are still the favorites however to win the America East championship which they have reached 6 years straight. Next year with the addition of 2 very good recruits and a transfer guard from Michigan State look for them to take a run at an upset in March. Sweet 16 maybe?
Also if you like really competitive sports take a look at the Division III hockey teams.. Two teams, Middlebury and Norwich, both from Vermont, are consistently in the top 10 in the nation and have won numerous championships. Lets not count out my school either.. Castleton State was 6th in the nation at one point last year.
Ah Norwich, home of the Navigators. THE SF Giants AA affiliate. Oh sweet irony!!
